but a 4g signal, unless right next to the transmitter. varies a bit with atmospheric conditions. Yes, I sometimes get buffering if I'm using i-player. Not so often that it's a huge nuisance though.

The times they are changing, faster, faster..... But sometimes there is a catch, the same as it ever was in the early adsl days: contention and congestion. Several years ago I had the 4G motorway for myself, probably one of the first to discover that Bouygues brought 4G to our area. Always a stable signal using a Huawei B315 router, 30 Mbps download and 17 upload. Over the years speeds and stability went down, too many users online, some of them streaming 4K video. Yesterday I've lost my internet connection seven times, download speeds of 1.2 Mbps, upload 0.15 Mbps, very slow to open a new website. Yes, there is high speed internet if you are alone....... My advice: ask neighbours about 4G internet speeds and stability in day to day life. And even fiber can slow down if there is only a little chemin rural to the backbone of the internet. The providers know exactly how many clients are connecting to their (local) services, they don't share these statistics with the rest of the world.....
