I have been trying to gather my top ten sounds. Sooo difficult. Has anyone got theirs sorted and would be willing to publish them on here as links?

The problem I have is that I like many probably, like so many different styles of music so I could probably list ten fave heavy rock songs, ten fave prog rock songs, ten fave male performer songs etc etc etc. I could probably do several lists of top ten fave Beatle songs. Top ten fave James Bond Bond themes !

Like everyone, we all have an enormous amount of favorites, that's why choosing only ten gets the grey cells going. If you have reasons behind the choice, are you also prepared to give them? Just like the radio programm.

I don’t think the original concept was to provide the ten fave pieces of music but the music which meant something at a particular moment in your life. For me my first musical experience was hearing Buddy Holly. My older brother had a BH disc in the 50s which he played very often. I would have been five. So my first piece would probably be Everyday or Peggy Sue.

In no particular order of preference.... The Kinks / You Really Got Me Aerosmith / Never Loved A Girl * Bad Company / Can't Get Enough * The Beatles / Lady Madonna * Led Zeppelin / Rock'n'Roll Alice Cooper / Six Hours * The Rolling Stones / Honky Tonk Women * Deep Purple / Lazy * The Dandy Warhols / Motor City Steel ELO / Don't Bring Me Down * The ones with asterisks, well it could have been any one of several Then there's the 'B' list of groups, and the list of ones that are better with the video..... They're all on YouTube..haven't got time to faff about providing links!

What a great thread. I love this programme. I have been trying to gather my top ten sounds. Sooo difficult. I've been meaning to do this for ages. Congratulations to those who have managed to narrow it down. I must try again.

After a page or two we'll start to get lists of 10 obscure recordings to demonstrate the eclectic knowledge of the poster. Until then, though:
The Beatles - Golden Slumbers The Carpenters - Goodbye to Love Pink - What About Us 4 non Blondes - What's Up The Ataris - Boys of Summer Billy Ocean - Red Light Spells Danger Derek and the Dominoes - Layla (album version) Jimi Hendrix - Voodoo Chile Van Morrison - Queen of the Slipstream Sibelius - Finlandia
