What is refundable from your mutual and CPAM? €2000 Well done! Did your dentist have to make a lifestyle case for you? I could not get a cent on the basis that [said both CPAM and Allianz] the traditional dentures do exactly the same job! Yea, right

Why there are not enough dentists and doctors is complicated..... this is a condensed version
The student protests in May 1968 resulted in free access to university for everyone, no matter what your aptitude or ability. So numbers in medical schools rocketed, which was a huge waste of time and money as most of them didn’t make it though he first year. So places at medical establishments were then limited by law - the numerus clausus.
This lasted from 1971 to 2019, when Macron got rid of it During that period more doctors and dentists were retiring than finishing training, so a disaster all round. So from the start of 2020 the numbers of student places are now set by health boards, and in a few years we should finally see more doctors and dentists (and other medical professions) appearing.
There is a secondary issue that the social security reimbursement rates for a lot of dentistry have not changed in eons, so sector 1 dentists are put off.

Thanks, Catrose. That is really interesting. I didn't know any of the past history.
