Even now with prices booming in France there are still bargain's about just a bit harder to find. The old owner of these properties died and the state got the houses. Two houses a barn and a nice bit of land in a medieval village. Clean bath this time

Hereabouts such houses seem to be renovated by the Commune and then rented out as Social Housing. They are much in demand.

Not a problem if your a rich commune but to get artisans in to do all the work needed to get the properties up to spec to be able to be rented out would be a no brainer for us. We have too many projects to finish that have been started and not enough time to complete them before the renovation work stops later next year.

Mysty I meant that, hereabouts, those kind of properties don't come up for sale as they are absorbed into the housing stock of the Commune, renovated and then rented out as Social Housing. Not a question of being a rich commune .. a question of needing more social housing.

These properties were sold off by the tax office as they paid the costs of the old owners care, sometimes people leave property to communes or they pre empt sales to convert property I think thats the main way communes pick up property. I have no idea on these houses but the last one with the nice balcony the Mayor offered 1 euro for it to the tax office which they refused. I think we offered around 5500 which was accepted. Im not 100% sure but I think when the state or tax office sell a house no other person but the buyer can buy so they by pass all pre emption. This sale is being completed in under three weeks which is fast.

Still fit without pain in any joints and would like to stay like that plus we are doing alright selling things as they are.

I'm 2 years older and still working through the night, have broken off early (11.30) as have to be up early to help another youngster tomorrow!
My joint pain only started during the confinement when I stopped being so active, trying to reverse that now.
