I think that the Tories have just put another nail in their coffin and opened an idea for the next party that will be in government ?

For it to be the beginning of the end for Brexit, you need a party that supports the want to get back in to the EU and that I am afraid is where it all falls down. Starmer like Corbyn before him showed no real want to support Remain and indeed Starmer says there are no plans to re-enter the EU. I guess he is frightened to upset the red wall who wanted out? So in reality I suppose it will take another referendum in 25-50 years?

Once he is elected his stance may start to change…..especially when it becomes blatantly clear there are no sunny uplands….

The problem with Starmer too often saying that Labour would not take us back in to the EU and then back tracking on that would put Labour in to Tory type lies. I am a remainer and nothing would suit me better, even though my OH spent a fortune in the last 12-18 months on becoming Irish through her paternal Father thus giving our kids the same opportunity in the EU that we had. Would it be a good thing for Starmer to continue saying he won't take us back in to the EU but then when in power have a referendum? Well it would be a good thing for many people but then.........I see a good chance that once in Starmer produces figures to show honestly how badly off the UK is being out of the EU and then offering the chance of a referendum off the back of the findings. I would love to see Farage looking right cheesed off !!

why would the UK need a referendum to rejoin the EU? What the UK needs is a new political party, that is neither Labour nor Tory !

I do not think either party would be able to rejoin the EU, perhaps the single market but no one in the EU will want the likes of Farrage back delaying what the EU want to do.

Well it's the way that is has been done in the past, in 1975 and 2016 for in or out. And around 2011 there was also a referendum about Alterntative Voting....New party, that's been tried and failed.

Rejoin the EU people speak as if its a foregone conclusion that the EU members would have the UK back.

Speaking as an EU citizen I'd welcome back Northern Ireland as part of a united Ireland or Scotland once independent. As for England and Wales? Well, they wanted it so they got it and can live wrapped in their reformed Union Jack but I wouldn't want to be in any Union of which they were a part.
In the unlikely event that UK were to come to its senses and ask for re-admittance I'd really hope that the original "Non" would be re-deployed.

Not non but yes but accept the euro accept free movement accept having to declare world wide earnings for taxation,no claw back of monies paid in, given time I could think of other obstacles to put in the way.

Who would have thought this moron would have ever said Brexit has failed 😀
Piers Morgan @piersmorgan · Follow It’s time to admit that Brexit has been a disaster, exacerbated by pandemic/war, and have another referendum which as this poll indicates, would surely result in a substantial majority now voting for us to return to the EU.

Yet still making the assumption that the EU would accept its ungrateful little toerag of a neighbour back in.
