A tax inspector carried out an audit of the antique come secondhand dealer. This chap then stabbed the tax inspector to death and killed himself. That is how it was described on the French news and how it was reported in the English link. Im sure chancer was capabile of using google or watching the news.

Just to clarify the subtle difference between the french and English versions.
From the parisien
« Les premiers éléments semblent se diriger vers un acte prémédité », a ajouté le magistrat. Des « colliers de serrage » ont en effet été retrouvés sur les lieux. « On va tenter de savoir comment il se les était procurés et quand. »
From France24
Police had found clamps used to tie up the agents "which were probably purchased before the act", according to the prosecutor
From the BBC
The prosecutor said the murder appeared to have been premeditated, as metal clamps were found on the premises.
Colliers de serrage are cable ties as we know them. The prosecutor said they would try to find out where and when they were purchased. France 24 said they were purchased before the act. Of course they were, he could hardly have purchased them after! I have cable ties all-over my workshop, some purchased some time ago and others purchased a couple of days ago. By the time the BBC wrote their report they were metal clamps! And no mention in either of the English versions that the prosecutor would be looking into where and when they were bought. Semantics maybe but still important differences.
Just to be clear this is in no way a criticism of anyone on here, just a constructive comment.

Im sure chancer was capabile of using google or watching the news. I have asked before and you have said that you would use my forum username, I am respectfully asking you again. I do not watch the news French or English as I have not had télévision for a year now, I do get the on line edition of the local paper for my old area which carries some national news. For French news I prefer to read French media, for UK news the UK media, errors in translation (or often simply laziness in using Google Translate & not having the result checked) and bias work both ways. Thankyou to Sue56 and LPT for posting links to French media articles.
