bedrooms were in the attic and not a bit of insulation. Nor even an ecran sous-toiture, I bet it's fun in there during a storm! You would need a mosquito net to protect yourself from the s**t n bullits that would shower you!

My first place was just like your bedroom in the top photo and yes, when the wind blew the crap & slate dust rained down. The second place at least was close boarded under the slates but it was still very draughty. Thankfully I got a 2" layer of expanded polystyrene slabs in place before last winter. It made a big difference to temperature as you might imagine. That was when the infamous 1€ insulation deal was still going. For some reason my place didn't qualify so the cheapest thing to do (bit by bit) was to use slabs of poly pinned into position. I placed a plastic bucket behind the leak before the last slab was fixed in place. Happy Days.

Nice old terracota floor tiles That will make a lovely room with the floor tiles and mantelpiece. So weird to have the shower yet no toilet. You'll have fun finding what's hidden in the overgrown garden! I love everything about my new house but I do miss going to view old houses for sale, each time full of curiosity and the hope that I'd finally found "the one". s

Both houses I have bought since coming to France had no toilet. There were no showers or even hand basins anywhere, although the first one did have a standpipe against an inside wall with a rusty bucket hanging on it. The second one had evidence of pipework having been stripped away from clips on the wall but no drain pipes anywhere. I'd say your place was a cut above mine as regards to interior decoration. You could see where all the furniture was placed because the wall was a different colour, leaving a silhouette of what had been there. That house is like paradise compared to the first house we bought, no bathroom no nothing did come with rats but was cheap. www.alamy.com/stock-photo-port-de-dinan-dinan-ctes-darmor-22-france-124256585.html?imageid=3DC98B89-CD59-45F3-839E-E3A15C59D077&p=143473&pn=1&searchId=793b2e547b0f27028c20c4d616c582f2&searchtype=0We bought a house in Dinan Port (if you can see the picture, by the bridge there is a boat where the river access was), beautiful location, it was a three storey terraced house and classed as a fisherman's cottage, the toilet, if you can call it that was in an outbuilding and led straight into the river Rance (Rancid translation), water rats would come up the soil pipe and into the outbuilding, when we cleared it, we found hundreds of mummified rats along with a hidden collection of 60-70's porn mags above the toilet cabin. Or maybe here, you can see my white boat by the bridge- www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/dinan-port--226587424975535913/
