I thought Serbia.....................
.................was well outside the EU.
Perhaps you meant Croatia.
Now that is the faux pas to surpass almost all faux pas.

God knows why I put Serbia instead of Croatia! Serbia is still in the application stage. Could have been worse. I might have put Yugoslavia.

Could have been even worse. You could have put UK. Now that would be a disaster!! For the UK of course.

That’s right. Don’t let them have a referendum because they aren’t capable of making their own decision. Obviously after people such as yourselves making decisions for them they decided enough was enough. You don’t understand what democracy is. Their vote is as valuable as yours but you don’t accept that do you cos you know better. The EU keep asking the same questions until they get the result they want. The UK don’t do that. Accept the result & move on. I also can’t believe the tosh being spouted about rejoining, cloud cuckoo land. I think that "the people" spoke in the referendum and "the people" will enjoy the results, be they good or bad, and so they should. Most of the people didn't realise what the referendum would bring them. The choice on the ballot didn't say .
Some are getting it figured , the best is yet to come.
It's no good making a list of things that are going wrong , you can see it or you can't. Next move , Farage as PM?
Those that had a lot to gain from leaving the EU , have already made their profits , now the rest have to pay for their "freedom".

It cracks me up when I see references to 'the people' and 'the majority'. I seem to recall that the Brexit result was 52% v 48% of those who bothered or were eligible to vote. Which, correct me if I'm wrong, was 17% of the UK population. Very democratic! When I'm Présidente, there'll have to be a minimum of 75% of the eligible voting population in favour, to carry a proposal.

It was only an advisory referendum!

I agree with all that , but it makes no difference . I didn't say majority , because it wasn't and I also know that it was advisory , but that was the reason that the tories dithered and one reason why Boris got his large majority. It is done and now it is too late, those that left the country ,be happy that you did .

I'd be a damned sight happier if France wasn't going down the pan too, in so many respects Oh, and if French nationality meant just that and conferred the same rights and obligations as for a native. But it doesn't.

Today James O'Brian played a snippet from some moronic Brexiteer politician listing the promised advantages of leaving the Union back in 2016. Every single one of them has had the opposite effect to what was promised. As someone posted above, the referendum had no legal standing. It just gave a corrupt government tacit permission to destroy the UK. Anyone suggesting we just swallow it and move on can't possibly understand how serious and treasonable the lies are. Sounds like an "I'm alright, Jack" attitude.

Who said anything about wanting the UK back in the EU? The damage is irrevocably done. And I'll be perfectly honest, I couldn't give a tinker's cuss about the country or it's people (apart from a few dear cousins and I very much doubt that they voted for the catastrophe they're now living). I'm bitter about ever having been born English and about the knock-on effects that whole Brexit farce has had on my life here. After 40 years of being consistently shafted by the UK government, now, through an accident of birth, the French government is continuing the good work. But what the hell...it's only politics

What do you mean by that? I mean that the French government has started passing (or enforcing) laws which deny (some) naturalised citizens the same rights as native French. To be strictly fair, it also differentiates slightly in their favour in other respects, but I wonder how long that will last!
