I know everyone's different but it would worry me greatly that when moving to another country I was reliant on that country's social security system to survive financially until I received my pension, things can and do change all the time and I simply wouldn't want to take the risk of struggling in the latter part of my life. Understandable. I left the UK because I was unable to survive financially there. The fact that pretty much everything I needed to survive was cheaper in France prompted my move. I managed to eke out the dregs of my savings here until my (reduced) UK state pension kicked in. Now what "worries me greatly" is the exchange rate and how long my remaining teeth will last without an affordable dentist in the region.

I read that another advantage of Brexit is that the UK ( due to the departure back to the EU of qualified staff)is now taking double the numbers of personnel from third world countries. Just another form of colonialism?

Brexit slowly but surely strangling the UK, here is where the UK is now and it is awful reading, something the French find abysmal.
UK nuclear & coal power stations are 100% foreign owned. UK gas pipe network is 89% foreign owned. UK gas power stations are 85% foreign owned. UK offshore wind turbines are 83% foreign owned. UK electricity network is 79% foreign owned. Similar percentages for water and waste

They have all been sold off since Brexit? They kept that quiet.
The French find it far from abysmal, they think it's a great situation, they own most of them!

Those that are still celebrating the UK leaving the EU seem to do so in order to elicit the opposite response from people that used to be adversaries. They never seem to be able to actually come up with anything positive or concrete to support their joy, other than the faint whiff of the euphoria of winning..something that is fading faster than a fart in a breeze.
I'm going back to the UK next week..for the first time in 6 years, other than Covid visits to the MIL where I didn't get out of the car. I am looking forward to seeing family but I'm genuinely quite anxious about how I will find the UK in general. I'll let you know how I find it. My brother says where he lives it is full of very angry people and you have to be very careful what you say to anyone. We shall see.

I went back to the sunlit uplands last autumn. Most people in my circle of friends and rellies do not seem to equate any differences in their lives with BE. I went to places just north of Leicester that looked so dilapidated they reminded me of a film set for a sci-fiMovie.
specifically Markfield Services.
I suppose it all depends upon who your friends and relations are.
also, the road works need to be experienced to be believed. Two words. Disorganised chaos.
oh, and the Customs queues on entering port of Plymouth.

Had a read through my post and sure enough, there was no mention of the utilities being sold off since Brexit, I merely said "Brexit slowly and surely strangling the UK, here is where the UK is now and it is awful reading........" but there you go....

Joseph is fond of lighting the blue touch paper and withdrawing. It’s what passes for fun on a cold January day in Selby….

He did it deliberately just to wind you all up, as someone said in another thread recently "don't feed the troll"
