The government has just approved a £1.7 billion plan to construct a four lane tunnel under Stonehenge. As usual the protesters are out in force and the usual doom mongers are speculating that the site will be destroyed etc etc,
I’m sure many of us have experienced the famous bottlenecks on this part of the A303 and will therefore understand why something has to be done.

Now declared illegal so they will have to start all over again. There are other ways to go west if one has to.

Blimey, didn’t réalise the decision had been made. This now looks dodgy for any future plans to build a tunnel. I think this option was considered as the least damaging to the local environment. It seems a bad day for the local community.

Stop unnecessary car journeys, that might help.

Which looks like the reason the project was shelved.

For the price of a tunnel I’m sure that they will be able to reroute the 303 away from the stones.

Which looks like the reason the project was shelved. Yes, they had the warning from Liverpool's loss.

They are running scared of what they might find buried there; many folk believe that the Devil is incarcerated there and that à la Dennis Wheatley, he will ride out again, causing mayhem, fire, flood, starvation and mass rioting. Hang on though, we have that now and Donald Trump. Ah shoot, dig it, flood it and cool him or her off!👹
