This morning I tried to listen to the Today programme on Radio 4. Radio 4 was no longer listed on my Freesat list. Now this evening channel 953, (BBC 1 for the East of England) has disappeared. Has anyone else noticed changes or know what's going on?

I am not in France now and we use Sky in UK. In France, when channels go missing it is always worth powering down your receiver and restarting. If that does not work you could try a complete retune of your Freesat system.

Thank you exile. 953 is what I normally enter but it just reverts to BBC London. Ditto for 710.

BBC are making big changes and are testing some channels and removing them and putting them back up later.
It is to do with all regional channels becoming HD, with their SD equilavent being removed except for just a few (e.g. London).
It may be there will be difficulties for some over the next few weeks (months!)?

It may be that listeners are being groomed for further privatisation.

An aerial installer (UK) said to me that Freesat is being fazed out, Humax who make the majority of the boxes aren't making them , I don't know how true that is but I used to buy Humax boxes direct from them and most of their stock it now not available.
This is what I found- Last year, a big shakeup was announced, when Freesat and Freeview came under the roof of a single company, Digital UK, which is owned jointly by the BBC, ITV and Channel 4. Therefore, Freesat and Freeview are now developed and operated by the same company.23 Nov 2022

Normal service is resumed. BBC East is now on 101 and Radio 4 is where it always used to be. Thank you.

Thanks LD, the Humax boxes were very reliable and we currently own three, I like to record TV series and movies so I can bring a box with me to France where I have more time to watch TV, I see there is a Freesat 500gb box available on Amazon at £189.00 which has mainly good reviews which is good to know for the future as we are increasingly getting problems watching things like Prime and Netflix on our UK accounts in France, as surely we pay for the service, why should it matter where you are.

I have not had a TV to watch since October 2021 with the exception of a couple of short stopovers in Picardie.
I am not missing it in the slightest, when I read of people owning multiple recording devices to record series, having Netflix and Prime etc it seems like a different planet to me, one that I did once live on but not to that extent.
I have not recorded a TV programme this century and have not had any means of recording since, anything worth watching always comes around again and I realised in the 80's that watching series is an addiction like drugs, tobacco or alcohol and have never watched a soap opera since, the one exception was a Spanish murder whodunnit series called Sequièrés in VO on French TV, that did get me hooked but mainly as a means to refresh the Spanish I had learned in Quito, it was maybe 8 episodes and the final one did not have a conclusion, it was bait for a future series, I was bloomin angry and won't recidive again.
It would be nice to have French TV in the caravan, it has an aerial adjustable from inside, the problem is nobody sells a TV with a small enough screen to fit the space available and any second hand ones are not compatible with the broadcasts which are now all in HD.
I am currently doing the placo and cabling for the next step towards normal living, the amenagement of part of the sous-sol, that will have a TV so I will be back in the saddle this time next year, it will be interesting to see how much things have changed, I bet the adverts will take even more of broadcasting time.

Buy a cheap HD box to connect to a small TV of choice. The caravan aerial may not be suitable depending on location and transmitter distance.
Edit: TV mounted on caravan wall is the usual solution.

Space on wall is limited to something like a 17" laptop screen, maybe a 19" TV at a pinch and you simply cannot find them any more, I absolutely detest seeing multiple boxes cables and remotes around a TV and there just isn't the space and power points here (I have already added as many as I can without it looking like a bordel, plus the mess would always be right in front of me, perhaps in a large living room I could put up with it but not here, living in such a small space you have to be very organised and tidy or you could never invite anyone in.
I also dont like using more than one remote control to operate things, Skybox is good if you can find a suitable code for the TV, the made up marques sold in France often are not listed, mind you I dont need a remote when I can reach everything without getting up!
Like you I am not sure if the caravan aerial is compatible with TNT HD transmissions, everyone I ask seems to be streaming from wherever, I would just like plain and simple TV.
