The housing tax has partially disappeared but now the obligation to declare real estate starts. On January 23, the Directorate General of Public Finance launched a brand new reporting campaign intended to identify the properties, ownership and use. To make the declaration, taxpayers need to go to their personal space on taxes.gouv.fr and access the “Gérer mes biens immobiliers” tool. The occupation data already known to the tax services are normally pre-filled, which makes reporting easier. There is the option of completing the form in English. Non-residents will need to get a tax reference number to be able to access the form. www.connexionfrance.com/article/Practical/Property/All-owners-of-French-properties-must-fill-in-this-new-tax-site-form

Yes, and not only second home owners based in the UK! Read the Connexion article, while you can, for more information.

Probably one of the reasons that our landlord seems to be looking to sell and divest himself of the onerous task of owning property.
I must investigate
I wonder how he will dispose of the cash?

It may help them track down those few who obtained their WARP's fraudulently by declaring their 'maison secondaire' as their principal residence.

Thanks for the heads up Elsie. Are there consequences if the form is not completed? I have previously looked at bien d'immobliers and the information held on our property but hadn't noticed a form to fill out. A closer look will be necessary.

I wonder how those who make paper declarations of income and don't therefore have an espace* are supposed to proceed.
* I am sure they do but they will not have access to it.

I don't know anyone that pays less than €300 tax fonciere/habitation

Basically the French tax people are just asking house owners that are already in the system to declare that the information is correct , no change.

I pay more than €300 and I don't pay online. Payment is by prelevement. So the question remains. There will be tens of households in our commune alone that do not have internet.

Thanks Elsie, it is always better to keep abreast of the situation and avoid future difficulties. I have started my investigation by completing an application to acquire a fiscal serial number. That was ten minutes ago and I have yet to receive any automatic acknowledgment of receipt. If the guv.fr department send anything back I will be able to delve deeper into the system as a non-resident, non-tax payer (to France) and secondaire owner. It may just fizzle out as often is the case and I will be happy to carry on as normal.

I am sure that applies to many in our commune as well.
