The original version was New Member, Junior Member, Full Member, Senior Member, and God. Why do you find it twee? It at least shows any new arrivals the status of existing members. |

I'd have thought the number of posts shown against each poster was sufficient without also reinforcing this by giving out stars, but if it pleases folk to get stars as well.......  |

Why on earth, when all members are suposed to be equal, do new members need to know the 'status' (whatever that means) of existing members. Are you assuming they are too stupid to read how many posts each member has made & work out for themselves how much/little they contribute? What do these twee stars actually add to this?
Who the hell needs a status on a little forum? Edit... Bloody hell! I've just noticed that everyone also has a title. So each member's got against his name the number of posts made + a title + stars. WHY?  ? |

'Recent posts' is full of 'em  Standby for incoming !

It actually doesn't take long to clock up 100 posts and therefore to gain 5 stars. If like me, you post on the games threads regularly, as olave says, they mount up very quickly. Even so, before very long almost everyone (except new recent members or very occasional posters) would be on 5 stars and the Senior Member status.
I don't really see that is particularly helpful or interesting to anyone. We'd all be chiefs and there'd be very few Indians.

When I started the forum, the original version was New Member, Junior Member (after 50 posts), Full Member (after 100 posts), Senior Member (after 250 posts), and God (after 500 posts). Had I not changed it back in the beginning, that's what would be the ranking system now and nobody would have questioned it, so why the hell are people whinging now because I changed it to something else?
