"Surely if 75% of dead drivers are male then men cause more deaths by dangerous driving."
You assume the dead driver caused the accident. It is quite probably a good assumption but you would need to have more data than that to be sure. Equally you assume that all (male) deaths result from dangerous driving. Other causes could be medical, mechanical failure of the vehicle and probably a few more causes.

I live in a single track lane which unfortunately has a 50kph speed limit and no traffic calming but frankly the width of the road alone and the fact there is no talus in most places between the edge of the road and peoples gateways should make people drive slowly.
There are a lot of children and people dont use their cars within the village, they step into the road with their first step outside their gate, there is very little visibility because most have high hedges, I only drive at around 10, maybe 15kph and even then have to keep a sharp eye open.
I am one of the few that doesn't (yet) have automatic gates so each time I go out I have to stop the car to close and lock the gates which effectively blocks the road so that in itself should slow vehicles down but it doesn't, they come flying through well beyond the speed limit with 2 wheels on the narrow strip of grass within inches of me, someone that they can see clearly (I always put the car warning lights on now), it's scary to think of those stepping out especially the children that they cannot.
Some drivers do slow down, but those who dont and who drive through at a reckless dangerous speed are 95% women between 30 and 40 usually with children in the car.
I work outside a lot and when I hear a car approaching fast I look at what type of vehicle it is coupled with the time of day and can be fairly sure its a woman driver long before I can actually see them.

So, exile, at least someone understands my initial reserve about statistics of this type. Mr MA dissertation was heavily statistical and produced reams of results from which conclusions were drawn, b*llshit the lot!

Many years ago I read something on driving deaths per 100,000 km. In Norway, Finland etc it was say 1, in UK - maybe 5, in France, Spain, Italy 10 to 12 and in Turkey 44. If men drive more miles than women there is likely to be more deaths per km (or mile)....

‘ Incidentally, all those who claim you can prove anything with statistics clearly fail to understand statistics. Now, false statistics or biased interpretation on the other hand...,
A statician once told me that there was no such thing as proof, only evidence to indicate. This something that I have noticed that French drivers tend not to do. I am not sure about sex.

If you're not sure, don't do it.

Is my bullsh** any better or worse than anyone else’s. If you squeeze numbers enough you will eventually get the results you want.

Jeez, no wonder us girls want a section of our own where we don’t have to suffer the ‘superior’ knowledge of some of the men on here…

Jeez, no wonder us girls want a section of our own where we don’t have to suffer the ‘superior’ knowledge of some of the men on here… Don't worry. Once the ignorant come up with the witless canard that you can prove anything with statistics you know they know nothing and can pretty much be ignored.

In all my time on this forum I dont recall anyone (of any gender) making similar comments about women to the frequent ones that are levelled against men collectively like above.
It probably happened in previous generations and equality says that you should be free to do so, demanding a seperate section for a single gender seems a very backward step in terms of emancipation, gentlemens clubs have been frowned apon for decades and AFAIK have to be open to all genders not that they would be appealing to most people.
I suppose the title of this thread falls into the category though
