Something happened a few weeks ago that sparked off my interest in our locality and I have been trying to inform myself about it. This morning I had a chat with a very helpful woman who worked at the Marie. She sent me a copy of this among other stuff : archives.landes.fr/article.php?larub=194&titre=l-adour-aller-au-fil-de-l-eauI am getting to grips with analysing it’s contents A translation of one section via an engine finds ‘ The strength of its current, man used it very early. On the banks of the Adour and its tributaries, certain activities use the water current directly. These activities, present all along the river, went into decline at the end of the 19th century with the first two industrial revolutions, the concentration of production and the coastalization of activities on the mouth.’ I am not sure about what is meant by ‘ the first two industrial revolutions,‘ does anyone?

If you could tell us which part of the French copy you are trying to translate that would help. Machine translations are mostly fairly good but seeing the original French would be better.

Is this it?
google gave me the following, almost the same as the OP, so it seems to be the right section The strength of his current, man used it very early. On the banks of the Adour and its tributaries, some activities directly use the current of water. These activities, present throughout the river, declined at the end of the 19th century with the first two industrial revolutions, the concentration of production and the coastalisation of activities at the mouth.

There are in fact two industrial revolutions, depending on the source of energy used: the first (1770-1850) was based around coal which was ably demonstrated by the railway, the second (1850-1914) was based around oil, electricity and the automobile.
