I have a pair of Sketchers shoes with memory foam sole inners. The uppers are made out of some man made fabric. They are very comfortable, but, I also have a rouge toenail that has caused a hole to appear in one of the uppers. I plan to fix it by glueing a patch of fabric covered PVC on the inside of the hole and get another year or two’s wear from these shoes. The problem is that I have no really suitable glue to do this, even if I can overcome the problem of alignment of the patch from the inside of the shoe. I think something like Copydex may be a good option and wondered if anybody might know of a suitable alternative.

Drastic but cut off the offending toe, that way if you buy a new pair that toe will cause no further damage.

Thanks for that suggestion pcpa. In the light that the amount that I require is in the order of a few grams and I have no foreseeable requirement for a tube full I have had a look. at the stuff packed away in the box room below the flat ams I have found a nearl full tube of shoe reaper glue that I forgot I had.I think the glue is still usable. The trick will be to get the surfaces prepped and the patch positioned correctly over the hole from the inside of the shoe. I have a cunning plan and tomorrow is another day.

After the repair, a quick wipe over with turnip juice and job's a good'un.

Buy a new pair! Skechers are not expensive & I wouldn’t be seen out with shoes on that have a patch glued on. Must be tough in Landes.

When I have put my plan into action, the repair will be practicably invisible to those that don’t get down on their knees in front of me for closer inspection. Besides which, it part of my greater plan to bring brown Capitalism single handed and not to contribute to this sort of thing www.nature.com/articles/s41598-018-22939-w

But they are totally synthetic shoes.

They are also very comfortable and I do not want to part company with them for the sake of a small hole that will grow bigger if not checked somehow.
