Oh the irony! I installed Adblock on the new laptop (Win 11/ Chrome) and it works very well. BUT every time I open Chrome, I get an Adblock Plus pop-up inviting me to subscribe to the premium version. It's driving me crazy! Does anyone know whether/how it's possible to block AdBlock from advertising without disabling it's useful functions? TIA

To disable AdBlock Plus in Chrome:
Click the Chrome Menu icon from the browser toolbar. Highlight the More Tools menu, then click Extensions from the sub-menu. Uncheck the Enabled box that appears next to the Adblock Plus entry.

You are using Chrome, so you are giving everything you do in that browser to Google. They will do what they like with it.
Change to another browser, like Firefox or Vivaldi (there are others), and add Ublock Origin to the browser, a much better set up.

I don't have a problem with Google and I like/am used to Chrome. I tried Firefox very briefly years ago and simply didn't like it. Or Edge either for that matter. Forgive me for being unadventurous, but I don't like change for change's sake

And add Startpage which uses google but hides your search from it? I have it added to Firefox.

Thank you beejay. Perhaps I'm just sloppy, but I can't get worked up about being spied on. It's the fact of having ads at all that niggles, not so much whether they're targeted. I just found it quite ironic that Adblock does it's job splendidly and then goes and spoils it with it's own pop-ups Johnny's tip worked like a charm, though, so one happy bunny here
