We bought a house and barn and the barn had some stuctural issues so it had to come down in height but we had no scaffold or proper ladders in this region but did have a rake sticks and a extending ladder it took us one and a half days with humpty dumpty also known as ATS on one wall I did the barn door wall. We could not find anyone with a JCB it was too high for my small digger.

We are getting too old for climbing on walls this one will probably be the last one but have said that before. Cheaper than getting an artisan in though.

I did go up first to demolish the peak and level out the wall. That was the good wall will take some pictures of the other wall tomorrow. Day off today to recover, she was still safety conscious and said don't do anything stupid as I cannot get to you as I had the ladder but not sure if she was just calling me stupid. Its almost finished now other that the big old beam on the doorway comes down tomorrow.

It is never finished.
I had my Stone Grader in chief sort through this lot after the removal of scores of cubic meters of earth and rock.

Mrs.A has the remains of a large stone barn in the grounds of her derelict millstone in the Charente. One very high wall is right at the edge of the plot adjoining the road. Bringing it down to make it "safe" was too expensive. Our answer was to be sure it was covered in a small third party risks insurance policy in case a bit comes down and lands on a passing BMW.
