I'll let you into a secret. They have invented something called a teabag. As long as you don't buy them in France they are a viable alternative.
My Earl Gray bought in France in tea bags seems OK to me.
Some years ago I enjoyed Earl Grey for a refreshing change to the builders' brew I was consuming. My reference above was re ordinary PG tips, Tesco, etc. that many of us drink by the gallon. Pretty much the only thing I see available in the French supers is Lipton Yellow Label. Arm and a leg for a small box that would last us a week. Pretty much tasteless and about as good as cheapo French emulsion.
