Type this into your favourite search engine. "What is wrong with Windows 10/11?"The thing is this would surely apply to any modifications anywhere if you were an advanced user accustomed to clickclicking automatically to achieve what you wanted. Most users are not advanced and use just a tiny fraction of the capabilities. I'm in that category now but was quite an advanced user and adept with Windows 7! Finally had to move to Windows 10 for my new laptop and still not as comfortable as before. So it seems from above posts that I won't be any worse off with 11 and may like it better. Thanks for all your replies.

Microsoft will be delighted with your whole h earted support. If any of you have a bit of spare time you might do some research. Type this into your favourite search engine. "What is wrong with Windows 10/11?"Some of the answers will inevitably be geeky but if you stick with it long enough the scales will slowly drop from your eyes. This might come as a novel concept to you, A, but some of us are trying for a happy, stress-free (or as close as possible) existence and don't choose to battle everyone and everything or to wallow in suspicion and negativity. I really don't care what Microsoft / Bill Gates do or say or think. They enable me to do the things that I demand of a computer with minimum fuss or effort on my part so I can spend time doing what I enjoy elsewhere. I don't care if they track me, spy on me or even watch me in the loo! May it give them immense pleasure Sorry about the rant, but the more things that work correctly and undemandingly in life, the better It frees up time for dealing with everything that doesn't

I'm still using Windows7 on a 2007 (best guess from recollection) Triggers Broom laptop but it is as slow as treacle now and I don't know how much longer I can hold out.

Be afraid. Be very afraid. On the tech forums I frequent most people say the first thing they do when confronted by Windows 11 is to dump it and return to Windows 10. All you get from any late Windows version is more privacy invasion and less control. If these issues are of any importance to you then do some research first. Might be time to due a bit of housecleaning. But I suspect you have enough work to do in other areas just recently.

I spent most of my life taking the path of least resistance but I don't like being used, conned, or being pushed into a trap that turns me into a product whose personal data is being stolen and sold to the highest bidder. And I don't upgrade anything until I see a need. Microsoft's bullying tactics to push people to upgrade to W10 prompted a class action lawsuit in the US. I'm not one to just "roll over" and upgrade because someone says so. In some cases people had to buy a new PC because of the extra demands of the wonderful new OS Micro$oft was pushing. All to dazzle us with bells and whistles nobody but a dimwit would be impressed by. You pays your money and takes your choice,...........or not.

Yes. The box is outside so they must have installed it while we were out. I'm still waiting for the promised savings in electricity to magically appear. The only difference I have noticed is that it doesn't like certain combinations of load so it cuts everything off. We are on the 6kva level so have to be careful.

I have a Linky here, it was already installed.
I am on paying for 9kva tri-phasé, I applied to change to 6kva monophase back in September, back then I could have told them that they needed to change the 4 tiny cables running overhead to a larger section. 1st guy finally arrived a month ago, I had disconnected everything and rewired a tableau divisionnaire and the first for two tableaux de répartition in single phase, of course he could not do the job unless the supply cable was changed so made out a report, took loads of photos and kicked it back to his bosses. Today the guy arrived supposedly to replace the cables but without a camion nacelle, driving a small hatchback and dressed for a night out, he once again made a report, took loads of photos and did nothing, he reckons it wont be until June if I am lucky. Since January I have only been able to use one phase of the 3 that I continue to pay for so am limited to 3kva, touch wood I have yet to trip the AGCP.

I have over time migrated from XP to 7 to 8 and then to 10. This has essentially been forced on me as I have changed machines after failures or through the need to upgrade the machine. Each time I have changed the microsoft operating system, I have found that things that I had learned to do easily and quickly were no longer available - at least not where I had been doing them before. So I end up spending (actually wasting) my time to find how to do things I used to do without a drama and re-teaching myself. As for all of the wonderful improvements, well let's say I am still waiting. There is nothing the 10 does that XP didn't but there are things that I used to do in earlier systems quite easily that I have still not found a solution for in 10. [I used to choose colours and line widths in graphs easily in XL in 8 and earlier editions and I have lost the will to live trying to get 10 to do the same thing so I am left with their self selected "muddy" line colours. So in terms of being stress free as you say, I will be sticking with 10 until forced to change to 11, a system set up and designed to give a better experience to those using mobile phones and tablets - which I neither have nor need.

Tell me about it! I'm still quietly seething about the loss (about 20 years ago ) of Wordperfect. The stuff I produced for my boss with that, so easily, quickly and intuitively will never be equalled by anything either free or payable designed since.

Wordperfect, Word for Windows, Sage Accountancy and various other programs for graphics etc, Autocad, 3 decades ago I was well ahead of the game and using all of them for my small business.
Then all that has been described above happened, I was forever having to upgrade computers because the new version of whatever software which by then I could not live without (usually Sage) which I had no choice but to have if I wanted support, which was guaranteed to work with my old computer never actually did and needed loads of time to get working on the new computer which brought a load of problems of its own.
Since starting my new life everthing has been done by E-mail and I don't use a word processor any more, I might create the odd document in the free version Open Office or whatever it is called but I can't do any of the formatting etc that I once used to do so easily, it may be there but lost amongst so much other stuff that it's simply not worth the time trying to find and understand it.
As a consequence I am far less capable than i once was of creating a sign, a label or whatever, I ave some house plans to do and will be dragging out my old drawing board which I retired 30 years ago.

For house plans, I found "sweethome" which is not too difficult to get on with and is free.
