I'm on the edge of the plateau de Millevache and all of my springs ( 14 counted so far, I wonder who has the other 986) are pumping full bore into the river, which is quite full too. We have had a good share of rain this spring. The grass is shooting up. I need to get my waterwheel built and generate some power from the river.

The bit you quote only mentions a lack of rain in 2022 and a reduction this February compared with last. If there is more perhaps a link would be useful.
It's easy to find out where a quote comes from , just copy/paste into google and it will tell you.

I was going to start a new thread. WHO TO THANK FOR BRITEXIT? ( Head puppet springs to mind, but there were others pulling the strings) This was inspired by chancing on some note I made previously. I blame it on a shallow sea called Iapetus disappearing. Iapetus was linked to Japheth one of the sons of Noah and a progenitor of mankind in biblical accounts. That was until Barclays took control. The practice by early historians and biblical scholars of identifying various historical nations and ethnic groups as descendants of Japheth, together with the similarity of their names, led to a fusion of their identities, A bar steward at the club saw that he might make a bit of extra pocket money at the club if he could get into banking he he met a fraudulent Banker and started to play with his rod. The banker was called Arron who specialised in turning wasteland into wealth. The full story will probably never come to be known by the general public. Here is what is believed. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arron_Banks

One saving grace is that it is never finished.

Who says that we eat too much meat? All the disinterested info that I can find is very ambivalent. I prefer to go on my own observations of meat and non-meat eaters over the last 50 years, as well as the results of longevity statistics throughout western Europe. Who defines 'enough' animal protein for good health? The current guidelines will only prove their worth (or otherwise) in 80 or 90 years time when the result of current government policies and media influence will become identifiable. I suspect that the policies in school canteens etc. have far more to do with economics than balanced diets. There are some interesting videos about the battle at Sainte Soline last week , worth watching if you are interested.

I watched a fe of the vids on the Saints Soline demos. I can’t but help notice the disparity between the call for biodiversity and modern agriculture ant the huge tractors used by the farmers.

There are those that use horses still , but mainly to attract tourists. If there was an alternative to diesel powered tractors , many farmers would use it, or do you know one ?
I don't actually see the disconnection between biodiverity and tractors.

My ref re tractors was directed to turning thousands of ha to mono crops and ripping out hedges woodlands etc.
I have a friend who is not a farmer but has flogged off the wood of about 10 ha of woods that took at least 150 years to grow. Not that I have heard him claim to support bio diversity. After all, he is a Scot. 🥄

Objecting to him harvesting/exploiting his crop is like objecting to a farmer cutting grass for hay, harvesting maize or sending fattened up animals to the abbatoir.
Man has been harvesting timber since the dawwn of time, none of us would be here now if our forebears hadn't, and they didn't need tractors or chainsaws to do it.
What is important is that other trees are replanted or other plantations created if the land is turned to other use, that has been encouraged and supported by grants for decades.

There is quite a difference between forest work that used to be done by hand and the disasters that are produced by " forest harvesters" We need trees to live , folk have forgotten that.
