Hm. I'm not finding the poona clue much help. I've got as far as discovering that poona was the forerunner of badminton. And another word for a shuttlecock is bird ..........

I am rubbish at cryptic crosswords and have no idea how I got that apart from following Veer's line of thought and that you might find a Yogi in Poona.

It has been a long time since I was involved with cross words. Some of the salient points that come to my mind it that very few people think alike. To construct a clue I just think of a random word or phrase and try and build a form of logical answer from the word. I think it should be useful to remember rule one of cryptic crosswords. There are no rules
: I was trying to find a town that was famous for its yogis. There are dozens in India, Although the Rashni was not really a yogi he was pretty famous and spent some time at Poona so I plumbed for the clue that I gave.
