We are coming to the Périgord/Dordogne region (24470 Saint-Saud-Lacoussière) in July. My wife is booked in for a Yoga/Ayurvédique retreat but I shall be out and about. Before researching I thought I would see what you locals might recommend for visiting/eating. Merci à l'avance.

Brantome is worth seeing , good restaurants. Hostellerie-saint-jacques in Saint Saud was one of the best restaurants in the area, still run by the same family , so should be good. Piegut market on Wednesday morning , lots of Brits. A bit further South , caves , les eyzies etc. It depends what you want/like to see?

As Cernunnos recommends. If your wife likes sewing, Decourt Fils (fabric warehouse) @ Javerlhac-et-la-Chapelle-Saint-Robert is a must visit. The Italien restaurant, La Toscane at Montbron has a good menu with a lovely courtyard setting. Also Jumilhac-le-Grand is supposed to be very pretty with a chateau but we haven't got there yet.

We used to live a few minutes from Brantome, several restaurants there. One for special occasions is not far from Brantome at Champagnac de Bel Air and the Moulin du Roc, was excellent and no doubt still is.
