Bought a side lift today from my local quincaillerie (paid a bit over the odds but got. it home without the hassle of an online purchase). Just used it and managed to clean through to the far side by lying down. Lying down is not problem but getting up is another thing at my age. The amount of cr@p removed was amazing and now hope it will cut better

What you do is....rock around a bit to get from your back to laying on your side.....then you look for something to grab for leverage...the mower's handy, so you just hope the thing's stable! Then you wiggle onto your hands and knees (assuming your knees are fit for purpose...one of mine is buggered since re-doing the shed roof ). Then, hoping that no-one's looking, it's bum-in-the-air time and voilà! Te debout! Elegance personified and a lovely, clean mower all ready for the next time

Your description reminded me of my dog getting up after wriggling on his back to scratch an itch.
Maybe there's a lift designed for the purpose.
