At last I am filling in TOR1 docs for moving back to UK although at the moment I do not have an address to go to With the help pf customs I am moving myself with family help after quote of over £3000 and probably more because of the dirt lane access to chalet to move about 50 boxes and 5 items of furniture I have to list all boxes and goods I have marked on the boxes the contents and have had them doubled checked that they are correct on the list Has anyone moved themselves since Brexit ? I expect Passports checks cats and mine covid passport checked as well mine still in maiden name but is every item on the list checked at the border Customs seem a bit vague on this as you would expect them to be for obvious reasons

I doubt you look like a smuggler, or someone trying to evade customs duty. 50 boxes seems like the normal sort of amount for personal goods, so I imagine they will wave you through! Good luck.

I assume you will be using a third party to do the moving and not trying to stuff 50 boxes into the boot with the furniture on the roof. Professional companies will be well known to UK customs and will likely be waived through with minimal or even no checks. I doubt that there will be anything in your goods and chattels that is likely to be of any interest so I would advice using generalised descriptions for customs rather than detailed ones - so for example describe goods as a "dining service" rather than "6 plates, 6 side plates, 2 serving bowls, a gravy boat, 5 (you broke one) dessert bowls, 6 saucers and 6 coffee cups". You might still want to keep that detailed description for insurance purposes - so you can claim when they break another bowl - not likely but you never know.

After A quote of over £3000 for the move and a surcharge because of the access road (mud lane} Family decided they would do it this was pre brexit pre covid Custom in UK have been very helpful and the boxes are marked books china etc A friend came round to educate me on how to upload docs onto the computer and add them to the tori list Now it seems more likely it will be a self drive van with son driving The biggest problem seems to be an address in the UK{that will accept moggies and of course the inability to get my covid pasport changed to my married name pharmacist refuses point blank to change it I have been advised to carry my birth certificate with passport by an idiot in CPAM That £3000 is looking like a better option every day

The pharmacist can't change your covid records. It's not their fault. CPAMs advice is practical. If you really want to get it changed try the vaccination centre, but again I doubt it will work. Just work round the problem.

Possibe workaround - your marriage certificate with both names on? That seems to be the popular solution…I gather the name “mismatch” isn’t just a problem with CPAM and/or UK passports so I guess the only option ATM is loads of paperwork.

Which of course is the standard French solution to all bureaucratic problems.

my vaccination was administrated by the pharmacist that was my vaccination centre as in a lot of rural towns that was why I went back to her to ask about changing paper work Also saw on here that others had had theirs changed with no problem It was my second marriage so that certificate has only my married name of my first husband not my maiden as well that is normal on UK marriage certificates it only says previous marriage dissolved I checked that first do I take birth, 1st marriage, divorce, and 2nd marriage certificates with me for check in My carte Vitale is in my married name as are my assurance docs It is only the covid passport that is in my maiden name Eurotunnel do not seem to have a number to contact to ask them Without sounding rude I have had enough to work around in the last 12 months without worrying if I am going to be turned away at the border Even trying to find covid testing in the UK You can enter France without a test but need to have a test here and one booked for entry To UK looked it up today Still got a lot of other problems to just work around with inheritance, sale of house. sale of car, sale of goods not being taken with me and finish packing up house goods still in use moving goods to UK Only me to do paperwork so I thought that this would be the easy one My Mother always said women should have been born with two pairs of hands
