Ours seems to dominated by crows/jackdaws this year, so everything else is drowned out unfortunately. It’s like being an extra in Hitchcock’s ‘The Birds’

The app has also educated me in listening for calls and not just song. The calls tell me when the stray cat has arrived for his food, which incidentally includes a raw organic egg whisked with organic milk. He has a rough life as well as ideas above his station. And the most startling blue eyes.

Ours seems to dominated by crows/jackdaws Lots of crows here too. They always sound so angry! That's one bird I can identify without an app. Plus the pigeons. Lots of them as I live close to a high tower they call home. I'm about to download Merlin. With that plus my new binoculars I hope to spend many happy moments.

Thanks for the app recommendation. I downloaded yesterday. First up: Monk Parakeet, Indian Scops owl and ziting cisticola. lol. I think it might have been the sheep baa-ing rather than exotic birds. Early this morning at about 5.30 wood pigeon, house sparrow, blackbird, robin and wren. Nothing very interesting seeing as we are in the heart of the countryside. Hopefully, others will be identified soon. Strange that no Tits were recorded as we do have many.

Cuckoo and Hopoe arrived here yesterday I keep a mental note of when I hear the first cuckoo. I think the earliest was 21st March and the latest was the beginning of April. Haven't heard one yet but being on the edge of a town now it's always later than before when I walked my dog in the woods every day. I would love to see a hoopoe.

I think that I saw a cuckoo the day before yesterday. No call though.

I remarked to my wife just this morning how lovely to wake up to the sound of bird song compared to where we used to live in the UK. I always sleep with the bedroom window open except in the dead of winter.
It must have been two weeks ago I heard a cuckoo. Often in the night I hear an owl. Far too many jackdaws, loads of crows, wood pidgeons but far more doves. In winter we get at least two robins.
When I go for a walk on the GR36 I nearly always hear a woodpecker but I rarely get to see them. Far fewer swifts and swallows the last two yeaqrs.
There are two stone pillars at the entrance to our house which I can see from the kitchen window so I like to put out bread, pasta and fat before I start getting breakfast together. In winter I use a circular wire contraption with only one place to enter for small birds. The robins had no trouble sussing this out but the sparrows never can. The crows and jackdaws of course can't enter.
