I have found several emails in my spam folder from CCF which is comforting. One was from our personal agent which arrived only a few minutes after my first email asking for help.

I wonder if the new French owners would recognise Linux? The reason HSBC got rid of their French arm was because it was loss making, I wonder if all the different services will be kept, just a thought.

Well, as expected it has not been straightforward. We ended up having to go to our branch one hour away last Friday. Well it was a bit longer as the farmers had blocked off part of the A64. The assistant was extremely helpful but let slip that there are some technical issues. Perhaps the one to most aware of is not to use the iban bank account details sent out by post but instead to to only use the one from the system - apparently there has been an issue with the postal iban!
What was the most bizarre thing was that the assistant who was charged with assisting clients doesn’t have a CCF account so we were having to work together to find out where the iban details were on the account.
We could finally access OH’s account but my account kept telling me there was a technical error but, finally, we got it to work.

Thanks for your report. I hope it settles down for you. It makes me feel fortunate that the small hitches in our CCF have been sorted out to our satisfaction with the help of a very astute personal advisor. We communicate in English and he responds quickly showing a clear understanding of our questions. We will need to be careful with the IBan numbers. I will compare the numbers on the printed letter with that in the app. We do need that to work as we will be transferring some money quite soon. We have a joint account and we have both got access on our smart phones. We have been told that we will eventually (next semester) have the capacity to have up to five trusted devices. The account shows the correct starting point and subsequent direct debits have appeared as expected. I have also checked that the payments have successfully arrived with the correct recipients.
edit: I have checked the IBAN numbers provided in the original letter and that held in the mobile account app and I am pleased to find they are identical. We will be testing the transfer with a relatively small sum before any major transfer.

This morning we sent just 50€ through Currency Fair to the CCF account using the IBAN number listed in our app. It took about two hours to show in our CCF account but at least the test was successful and we are ready to send a larger sum with a high degree of confidence that it will arrive as normal. One disconcerting thing that I noticed during the setting up of the recipient account in Currency Fair was the name of the bank. At this moment I have forgotten it but it was only by an internet search did I discover some association with CCF.
edit: Banque des Caraibes

I know this will be boring for members who did not have an HSBC account but I am just reporting how CCF are operating. All our DDs are being paid, transfers are working as normal and card payments with our old bank cards have been accepted correctly. Today we have received, in the UK, our new CCF bank cards. They tell us that our security number has not changed. Although Visa is shown in a large logo there is no mention of CB which has been on all our previous French bank cards. In a few weeks we will be travelling back to France and we will activate the new cards at the ferry port by extracting some cash in euros. All is well so far.

Thank you for the update Lurcher. So far we haven’t had any problems with CCF. My new card arrived last week while I was visiting my mother in the U.K.

I was very pleased to find that my CCF card works perfectly now I have been able to test it in France. We also received a message saying that our prelevements would be managed without any need to do anything. There may be some recipients who will not make the change when directed by CCF. CCF will then send a list for us to deal with those companies such as Amazon. We do not foresee any difficulties.

Nub of the problem was due to me using Firefox................. a box requiring to be ticked was not appearing. Resorted to Chrome no problem. I've had that too with one or two French sites .. it's most odd. Good to hear from you zakbertie .. would you like to add a rough idea of your location to your profile so we can localise you ?
