King Charles has cancer. I, for one, am sorry to hear that.

Not really a topic for conversation anyway.
All anyone needs to know is in the mainstream news.

After waiting all his life for a chance at the top chair he now has this to contend with. And guess who was first to jump at the chance to get back into the news.

Not really a topic for conversation anyway. All anyone needs to know is in the mainstream news. I don't agree another. The Royal family is a huge draw, tourist-wise, worldwide and in the UK .. they are much loved. Apart from some members of the Commonwealth who now wish to become independent. Much as I was sad to hear of the Queen's death in my view she should perhaps have stepped down, or back, some time ago. Charles has some good ideas, hopefully once better, he will have chance to put (some of) them into action. The family firm does need modernising and, in my view, Charles has already started the ball rolling.

Think it will just serve to highlight the difference between Royal cancer care and the rest of the population cancer care. Which wouldn’t be a bad thing. Apparently it was picked up early for Charles but according to news reports delays in treatment for cancer for the ordinary folk are a lot worse.
Jeremy Bowen reports that his 86 mum was admitted to A&E at 4pm with a chest infection and was left sitting on a plastic chair ALL NIGHT before she was treated……😢😢😢

It’s sad when anyone has the diagnosis of cancer, but rather more so, I feel, when such a figurehead, who is much-loved, has that diagnosis.
Having become king after spending so long as the heir, I wish him well during his treatment and beyond, when he’ll surely continue to modernise the Royal Family.
There are horror stories about care in the UK; it happened to my elderly brother, but I can’t imagine that critics would be pleased if King Charles took up a place in an NHS chemo clinic or radio clinic.

If you are referring to Harry I think his decision to come over straight away suggests that the King's cancer is actually quite a serious one, albeit one that was caught relatively early, and the outlook is unpredictable. He is as far as we know undergoing either chemo or radio but no talk at the moment of surgery. So it isn't prostate cancer but was found during a minor procedure and presumably was asymptomatic. To me it points to something rather nasty and inoperable such as pancreatic cancer. And once the chemo weakens his immune system he will no longer be able to have visitors in person, so I don't blame Harry seeing him while he still can.

People might not be huge royalty fans but I could not imagine anyone would wish anyone with cancer anything but good wishes. I was reading last night 50% of Brits get cancer.

In recent years.....viewing UK television.........seeing Cancer charity ads......at first mentioning that one in four will get cancer, it increased to one in three, and recently one in two will get it. When I was young the big C was hardly ever mentioned. Isn't it about time someone worked out what it is in our "modern" environment that is working to kill us off? We are certainly exposed to more plastics than ever before, and unpronounceable chemicals in our food. If it is one of these two we are certainly doomed. Reducing these will make everything more expensive and reduce the profits for the holy "shareholders".

I'm not a royalist but I would never wish cancer on anyone. Having seen it at close quarters, I can only wish him well and hope he survives.

Yes not a fan but sorry to hear that news. I’m bemused as to what his “good ideas” are, the only thing I can think off was when he got someone sacked for not agreeing with his views on holistic medicine.

Well, I am a fan and rather fond of Charles. Met him once in 1987. I am really sorry to hear he has whatever form of cancer it is. All that time waiting to be king and now this. I reckon it is pretty serious for Harry to have hot footed it over PDQ.

I am not a royalist but wish the man no ill . I think it would have been better for the UK if Charles had stood aside and let William wear the crown, what a waste of money !
