Plenty of time for demonstrations.

I'm wondering if they will be banning modifications. There's a custom Harley that comes past here at weekends with seriously loud pipes. Always brings a nostalgic smile to my face.

Seems like it'll be every 5 years for my 40 year old CB 750 Custom.

This event comes as no surprise as it’s been on the cards for a long time. There have been plenty of protests and demonstrations over the years but this is an example of France having to fit in with EU legislation. The only difference it will make to most serious motorcyclists is an additional biannual cost.

What is your definition of "most serious motorcyclists"?
One who purchases their moto and rides it? takes it to the shop for all repairs; never adjusts a screw or changes an air filter or even checks the air in the tires but bring it to the garage?
I can see it being like a automobile - no changes, simple stock motos gracing the routes and the aftermarket parts dying a slow death collecting dust on the shelves.

I mean exactly what I wrote.

I can't see any reason why a responsible motorcyclist would be against it.

My wife, une motarde in her day, says that serious motorcyclists will automatically make sure that their machine and all its components are up to scratch, eg tyres, brakes, exhaust etc. But scooter owners, mostly younger than serious motorcyclists, won't give a damn, as long as it still gets them from A to B without, to them, a problem, and it's perhaps with them that the dangers to other road users lie.
I think Macron has made a mistake in giving in to the 'lobby' of the FFMC (Fédération Française des Motards en Colère), if that's the reason why it's been suspended; he's either in favour of safety on the road for users and potential victims, or he isn't. 19 countries in the EU have a CT for 2 and 3 wheeled vehicles, so why should France be any different?
