guess what I never received a call. However as she was reading out our landline no here in France she stated 00 44 0 I immediately interrrupted to tell her that you leave out the zero. Unless you corrected the 44 to 33 it's no wonder you are never called back.

Some folk spend so much time & energy name calling & insulting everything & every body they haven't got time for minutia.

I understand you anger but one point you have to be aware of is that post Brexit, UK banks cannot offer you any new facility that you did not have on that fateful day. They can legally continue to offer the service that you had on the day before Brexit.
This inability to offer something new includes: Increasing an overdraft facility, opening new accounts (unless the bank has facilities within the country where you are resident) changing accounts - for example making a single person account a joint account offering new insurance facilities and so on.

suein56 - your statement about laundering money between husband and wife showed as I have often found on this forum that many simply do not read what is posted. Many have a mindset that interprets posts to suit their particular mindset I repeat that the cheque my wife wrote came from First Direct not from a Cayman Island bank. That it was money that had been sitting in her FD account for over 20 years from sale of a property in the UK and a build up of pensions and investments. All this would have been evident to anyone at FD reading my wife's file.
Also First Direct was set up to be a telephone banking operation. Whilst we were in Spain in 2001 because there was no security aka locked front door to the multi-let house my wife's apartment was in someone (we knew who it was) stole correspondence from FD and applied by post for a new credit card.
Unbelievably FD complied. The thief could not know what the password was or the other checks which at that time FD carried out - favourite book/nickname/place but still issued a new credit card. When we got home and Angela phoned FD about another matter she found out the fraud. Of course FD replaced the stolen funds but never gave a full apology for instigating a process which was not part of their normal operation.
Neither FD or the police were interested in pursuing the thief but that is normal in the UK. The police are not there to look after the interests of Joe Public they exist to protect property of the Establishment and the status quo. We all saw the total bias once Thatcher came to power. The first thing this obscenity did was to ramp up the salaries of the armed forces and the police - what a surprise.
I have the unpleasant task today of contacting FD to find out If I can get someone who speaks reasonably understandable English to explain (a) what has happened to the cheque my wife wrote and (b) why a payment directly to my Nationwide account for £15K was stopped as possible fraud.
Also two more possibly unpleasant calls to the DWP and the NHS pensions to find out why 2 applications for change of bank payment sent on February 4th using the correct download forms have not been instigated. In fact I'mm glad, the DWP one was supposed to go to Wise but the treatment from Wise to my wife's 5 year old account means that that account may have to be terminated - more brain damage.
When all this is settled I hope that I can terminate all banking arrangements in the UK. We may not get the level of % that I was hoping to get using Wise but the brain damage will be finally be over. Of course when my wife dies I will still have to get 'officially' accepted translations re. my wife's pensions but that will thankfully be the last communication I will need to make to that dysfunctional island.
Where we lived in the Aveyron we had a blunt speaking Yorkshire man as an aquaintence who never looked at the UK news because he found it too depressing. He also said that if he went back to the UK he would probably be shot dead by the police within a week - he wasn't joking with those remarks, he really meant them.

The Costa del crimbo and England make a lovely couple.
The trouble with banks is that they are all on the same boat trip irrespective of where they claim to be based.

Couldn't possibly be the word salads you post as in your strange world you're obviously perfect. Take the above post: Despite only being a member here for a few months you commence by insulting members of this forum of whom you know nothing just because someone had the temerity to mention money laundering.
Not content with this you continue in your normal rambling MO with Cayman islands banking, thieves in Spain, biased UK police,Thatcher (this obscenity), salaries of the armed forces & police, unpleasant task today of contacting FD, someone who speaks reasonably understandable English, two more possibly unpleasant calls to the DWP , when my wife dies , blunt speaking Yorkshire man. I apologise if I've missed any of you thread diversions but it's difficult to concentrate whilst laughing.

suein56 - your statement about laundering money between husband and wife showed as I have often found on this forum that many simply do not read what is posted. That it was money that had been sitting in her FD account for over 20 years from sale of a property in the UK and a build up of pensions and investments. All this would have been evident to anyone at FD reading my wife's file. You have a very naïve idea of money laundering. If it were that simple they would just ban transfers from The Cayman Islands, Bahamas, Nigeria, South America and so on. The majority of money laundering acts are between British banks in the UK, between French banks in France and between German banks in Germany. The days of salting away cash in off-shore accounts disappeared when it became clear that better and less obvious money was made in real estate. (And in the UK, the concept of losing a bit to the person doing the transfer on your anonymous behalf was replaced by making a fortune with property. ) Today? Well I don't know what are the favoured routes for laundering but I do understand why banks have (computer based) rules about what looks dodgy and what looks OK. I have recently transferred a sum from my German to my French accounts - something I do from time to time. But on this occasion the sum was above the 10k€ trigger that requires an automatic investigation. I sent a pre-avis to my French bank warning of the transfer and telling them that the funds came from my German pensions. I got a thank you from the bank and the transfer went through without touching the sides. Know the rules Understand the rules Respect the rules Follow the rules

Ditto. We recently had a run on our French deposit a/c with some expensive purchases (livret A? can't remember the name & my secretary is not here to ask)) & decided to top it up to the max. A few transfers below 10,000 € via Wise attracted no attention.

If Iolar’s vast, long winded posts are anything to go by then I’m not surprised he’s having so much trouble with banks etc if he’s dealing with them in a similar way. My advice is to be succinct and to the point. Long windedness will result in the reader losing interest after the first few sentences. I know I do when encountering his posts….

Often referred to as KISS.......Keep It Short & Simple
In this case it seems "the Eagle has laundered"
