I'm searching for a tree surgeon to dismantle a large (dead) pine tree. I've sent for a couple of devis but was wondering if anyone on here has had a tree felled and the sort of costs involved.
My ideal would be to have the tree cut down into manageable rings which I could chop up and use in a wood burner but would like the branches removed.
We live in northern 16 (Charente) near Ruffec if anyone has recommendations.

We have a tree surgeon every other year as have quite a few trees that need pruning, and occasionally felling. More than €150 and less than €500 is the average cost.

In Dept 06 a fully registered and qualified ( ours went to school for it in the UK) would cost about €500 for the day or a little more if he uses his industrial chipper and/or has to remove branches from the property.

We use a tree surgeon every couple of years as we have lots of trees. I recently had 8 huge pines taken down, wood taken away and site cleaned at about 350 per tree. They were enormous. I'm just waiting for a devis to cut down a giant Plane tree and an equally thuggish Liquid Amber and expect to pay around 800 or more for the two. So far we've removed about 15 trees and the garden is still well wooded.

I have difficulty in cutting down trees for any reason except if they are a danger, or need thinning out to make room for other trees. Most of the trees I have had felled were roadside trees in danger of dropping branches or being blown over in a storm. On one roadside stretch, there were so many that needed attention that I could not afford to do it and in that case sold the timber of the whole plantation just to get those dangerous trees down. Fortunately, funds were sufficient to replant with 6500 new trees and maintain the plantation. I have since been busy planting 32 red oaks on a fence line, and several other anniversary trees (birthday gifts etc.). It is said that one needs 8 trees to manufacture sufficient oxygen for one person or one car. So for every tree that gets felled, someone will be a bit short of breath. Tomorrows world needs everyone to think about what we are doing to nature, so start TODAY.
