 It was a house and barn in the Cantal with a small hole in the roof. The Brits that bought never went back out, it was two families and one of the woman passed away then another one had health issues. They asked if we were interested in buying it back but I said no as the roof will have fallen in. Anyway weeks later he asked would I buy it for 1000, going up to look at it on Sunday. The countryside around it was really nice but you can see part of it on google and at least one part of the roof is no longer there. It was kind of cute back in 2014 but had been empty for a long time. Will post an updated picture on Sunday evening of the same view |

That's one steep staircase! You could not get to it back then I would have though the roof has taken it out. |

Feel sorry for the purchasers. Broken dreams. They must be so anxious to get rid of it and not have to worry any more. Look forward to next installment.

I had asked them if they had restored the house there answer is below. You just never know what's coming in life. Unfortunately not we have not been since we bought it from yourselves my wife passed away with cancer and I was in a dark place for a long time then Stephen wife had to have treatment and the last couple of years I’ve been fighting my own battle but fingers crossed I’m though it but neither of us has the energy or time now so we are having to give up our dream. |

As a marchand de biens are you allowed (with the relevant permis) to knock a derelict place down, clear the site and sell the resulting building plot ? Or something along those lines ?

Would still need permission but it would not really make financial sense with time and the costs involved. If it's still reasonably intact I could advertise it at 5 or 6k and sell it very quickly. Will know in about three hours time. But it's always worth more than 1000. |

But it's always worth more than 1000. Worth it for you but also very worth it for the past buyers - you would have smthg you could sell on and the present owners would be relieved of the burden of a dream gone sour. Smthg which is also costing them money i.e. taxe fonc every year and worry, as in owning a property in a foreign land which is in no way advantageous to them. They've had enough to worry about in the past 10 years. Cancer can be a wrecker of people's lives. |

Pictures later today much better than expected. Although the bed on the first floor is now
on ground level.

 If you look at the first picture on this thread the bed and first floor are now on the ground floor. The staircase is still intact.  The roof is coveredi in thin stone but needs some work, the barn next door was just tile.  The view from the hamlet, no traffic just cows. If you click the pictures they get bigger |
