Interesting when you see the different perspectives.

Yes I found that an interesting read thanks. Lots of places are lovely to visit but not to live. We were in Pezenas pre COVID and parking even out of season was a total nightmare, likewise Sarlat, Beziers, I could go on, but you get the gist.

Interesting to see that Limoges came 4th and 2nd in the Express poll
I agree that a lot of places are very nice to visit but I wouldn't like to live there.
And I wonder how Pau got to the top of the list... ?

The best time to visit Sarlat is out of season.
Same with most of the Dordogne. The v. few months of real winter not so good but we aint there then.
Having got that off my chest, then a very good reference to start with as any particular bias can be read into it and duly appreciated.

Probably by being a bit like some Tour de France winners. Not especially outstanding in any particular area but good enough in all of them to come out tops. My one visit to Pau left me with an impression that for a city it might not be a bad place to live - and I hate cities.

Definitely not Kaboul at the moment. [brand] Not sure that's in France but then again I didn't do well at geography at school.

Definitely not Kaboul at the moment. Is that anywhere near Kabul ? (well you are a self-confessed pedant)

All the places mentioned have their merits and we are blessed to be living in a country with some many beautiful places, but for us the climate is a big factor. Having experienced further south we spent too much time hiding from the cold in winter and the heat in summer and avoiding hurricanes and floods and droughts.

An estate agent here in Anjou was saying his main customers looking for property were from the south of France looking to escape the effects of climate change and terrible traffic.

How did Bordeaux fare? Just got back from a day in the big city and if I had to live in one, it would be a strong contender.
