Apparently they can become tasteless to eat at such a size .. but these monsters can be used to make some kind of spirit. Will need to look it up and get back to you.

I was thinking of pickling in a cider vinegar based pickling joined with a few spices?

There is a good BBC recipe for that, dead simple to make. I eat mine with smoked fish, makes a tasty contrast.

I've had a couple that shape.
How do you freeze? Just slice?

Sorry for the delay I was making our evening meal as you posted .. tablets are brilliant 🙌 Don't know about pickling .. never done it. Found this .. no idea what it might be like but it's your choice/decision. moonshiners.club/homemade-zucchini-moonshine-recipe/

Cut the top off, scope out some of the flesh, pour vodka into the cavity and prick the bottom a couple of times "Tooth pick" suspend over a bowl and leave alone. Never done it but read about it many years ago, courgettes will grow into what we call Marrows if left on the plant, same as a Gherkin is a immature cucumber, there is a bit of debate over the exact relationship but for us mortals its good enough.

I made something similar to this www.instructables.com/Marrow-Rum-or-Booze-from-Otherwise-Useless-Vegeta/years ago. I kept it a few years. It was surprisingly good when I had it.

They're good stuffed.
Gives them a bit of flavour!
