Does anybody know anything about what sounds to me like ‘laine’ in the context of its use in surgery to assist in cicatriseisation ?

Surgeon tried to explain on going surgery to me. My poor French has not helped. I want to read up on techniques and prognosis in order to better understand what is going on. I have had a bit of a search around but…
bingo…. ? It has just dawned upon me… I have possibly been developing throat stones at an alarming rate for the past week. The good news is that it seems to be getting better, but, I said that yesterday, and the day before, now I am not so sure.

Sorry Nifty, but a quick trip to your MT or nurse may be the best way to understand the issue.
Take a translated set of questions or if possble a french speaker (obviously at a cost though).

Edited by addition of original message from me from me to oh to beam me up. ( from Starship’s log)
25/8/21
The operation for removal of tumour took nearly five hours ? Apparently it was bigger than the surgeon expected.
Over the next 10 days I think that there was much confusion as to what was best to do with my case. 1 stayed for two days in intensive care and was then moved to a private room in the Surgery Dept.
At one stage I was having dreadful problems accommodating all the foreign objects in my mouth, and, probably had an hour’s sleep in 4 or five nights. My progress had been erratic.
Perhaps the most traumatic time for me was abt the 3rd of September (it’s a day I’ll always remember) Seems that part of the the technique utilised by the surgeon’s attempted to use bits of cotton wool, or lambeau to assist in sickitrisation of the wound. As some time some of these these seem to have became detached from their original position and became fixed between my teeth by the thread used to stitch them. I called for the Doctor, he remedied the problem but cutting the swabbing or Lanbeaux free with a pair of small scissors.
18.30 Sun . Nurse has just given me abt. 25 cc of drugs via the tube that runs through my nostrils to my esophagus She mentioned that some of them were antibiotics. Others I am not sure about. The main thing is that they eased the pain.
My room has been moved. I am being stored in surgury ward There is one case of cv in the hospital. I can not talk anyhow, so phone is no good for communicating with me. I think the hosp is shut
I still have various tubes all attached Sat in chair by bed this am. Very tiredr
I will be delighted then they take tube from my nose It rinses the site of the op every fifteen minutes or so. About every three or four cycles the relevant body cavities fill up with water, or whatever, and it makes me vomit the most foul tasting liquid. I think that its the anaesthetic that tastes horrible.
I was under the impression that the opp was. Done through my mouth. I only realised when I had a shower yesterday that I have a scar on my throat with 25 staples in is. It makes me feel like Frankenstein and stops me washing and shaving properly. No shave as yet.
If you are allowed to visit, I would like you to bring my lip-seal, my pillow and the little blue/grey cylindrical pillow please.
Room 4266
The small one could be under the bed, in my cupboard or maybe in the car? You might get similar at Action or whatever. I like them small and hard.
Hopefully the internal stitches that have made the last ten days seem like a nightmare will be removed then I can get back.

Let’s hope. I have got their full attention now. I am waiting for the surgeon to appear to perform emergency surgery. It seems that lambo is the surgeon’s equivalent to Plastic Padding. I think that he probably overdid it on me. Hence things are not running smoothly. Lunch hour is not a good time to get anything done in France

If the correct word is 'lambeau' I'm sure jsks will know all about them...
I hope your surgery goes well!

The good news is that I am to be allowed home tomorrow. The bad news is that the feeding tube that runs through my nose into my Oesophagus has to remain in position for the foreseeable future while TPTB work out a course of action

Nifty, really good that you can return home tomorrow, hope that you’ll be able to have the feeding tube removed before too long. Take it easy, don’t go rushing to get things done at home as you begin to feel stronger - pace yourself.

Good news. Absolutely critical that the feeding tube isn't removed earlier than necessary so while it's a real PITA it makes good sense.

I've only just caught up on what's been going on Nifty. Sorry you've had such problems but things are looking better if you're going home tomorrow. I assume the tube has to stay in place to let everything heal, so do try to be a good and patient patient to give yourself the best chance for a full recovery.
