Thinking of you Nifty. A horrible thing to go through.

Yesterday the nurse and an agent came to install me to a feeding machine. Within about half an hour the cut began to seep a small amount of liquid that looked like tea which ran down my chest and collected in my navel. I asked the nurse to put a patch over the spot to assist in it forming a solid scab. Pictures were taken ( previously) and Doctors consulted, I have to go back into hospital this morning to see the surgeon.

Good news. Back home, tube out and I began to feel better almost immediately. I reckon that the cost of unnecessary prescriptions is probably abt. €3000.

Have you had a stoma fitted? It's a port through which a feeding tube goes into the stomach wall just above the navel.

Really glad to hear that Nifty, it certainly is no fun having a feeding tube inserted, mine was in for 7 weeks, really horrendous. I can only sympathise with you trying to understand what the surgeon was saying to you after your operation, if your understanding of this very complicated language is not 100%, luckily my surgeon spoke to me in English.
Wising you a speedy recovery, all the best.

You'd know if you had. I continue to send you my best wishes. It'll be a long haul judging from what you've said. Keep looking forward and accept all and any help offered.

It’s good to hear that things are progressing, Nifty - don’t try to rush things, pretty much everything can wait till you’re fit enough to do it, as long as food and medicines can be got. Take good care of yourself.

I have been at my wit’s end as to what is right. It has become evident to me how necessary it is that my dietary requirements are fulfilled. I am fairly confident that they have not been by the milk based supplements provided by the pharmacy. OH made me some Vichy ssoise, chicken stock, stock cube, leeks, a little bleu d’Auverne all blended together and then sieved.
I had about 110 ml Result, instant feeling that I had ate something worth having, then had Acide calvulanique EG 125 m.g. antibiotic then had a second 110 glass of chicken stock mixed with a crushed Bevintine 250 m.g. Chlorhydrate de thiamine / thiamine hydrochloride.
I am aware that these are coated tablets and are probably not meant to be crushed, I was in somewhat of a state of perplexity as what was best to to. I did it anyhow and As far as I know their have been no ill effects from doing so.

When my husband was going through something similar to your situation he too hated the milk based drinks. But it's what ultimately kept him alive. You're body needs protein and essential vitamins and minerals. Keep trying with them Nifty because good nutrition is essential in your condition. Best of luck.

Not the same operation, but just 2 weeks after I retired, unknowingly, I had to return and soon after have a major operation. 5 days after that operation after lying in bed to recover in hospital and feeling very grotty a healthcare assistant came and pretty much forced me to get up and have a shower. Sorry to be basic but it was on a par with having an orgasm. What a relief.

Poor you Nifty, you do seem to be going through it. Hopefully all the good care will soon have you feeling a bit better, then another bit betterer, and a bit more betterer and then betterest. Take care.

After reading of the traumas suffered by others, I feel that so far I might have got off comparatively lightly. There is no doubt that I am feeling better. I suppose that my biggest fear it what the treatment might entail in a few weeks or so when I think that I am due to continue with radio therapy - x- ray treatment at Pau. Firstly, I am due to see my GP, of > 10 years in a few Weeks, he has consistently shown to be more knowledgable than some of the specialists.
