I keep seeing mention of Facebook Marketplace and have had a look around on several occasions. "Unimpressed" would be a very kind description. Everything from completely misleading or ambiguous ads to clearly blatant scams. What's with people putting 0€ or 1€ or Free next to the photo and then the real price after you click for more info? Walmart supposedly selling a very high tech electric bicycle for $69! Something that in this day and age would have no trouble coaxing two thousand plus out of the heavy wallet/lighweight intellect masses. Someone (actually several someones) supposedly selling mystery boxes of Amazon overstocks and returns, a huge box for about 25 to 30€. They show photos of "potential" goodies like games consoles, laptops, Iphones, etc. but around the edges you see little crap earbuds, etc. I'll bet those earbuds are all you're gonna find in that box the size of a washing machine.
Has anyone managed to find a genuine bargain on Fartbook?

I have only used it as a seller, ane even then by proxy getting someone to place the ad for me and more importantly someone who knew what groups to list it on and who was a member of those groups.
I sold my last UK sourced RHD vehicle in France for 3 times the price I had paid for it 2 years and 20K miles before, the deal was done within the hour and the phone was ringing off the hook, the happy buyers even paid me to deliver it, so from the response I would say they got a good deal as well as myself.
So much for the recieved wisdom that a RHD car is worthless in France
Recently I sold my race car in the UK using someone else to place it on Fessbook and the groups that he was a member of, it sold quickly to the right buyer for a good price, more than I had listed it for (I asked for offers in excess of.....) the next step would have been Ebay but there is a lot of commission to pay, Fessbook is free.
I put a photo of my phone number in the advert, you are nota llowed to give it (lord knows why) but this is the ay around it, anyone messaging the person who placed the ad gets told to phone me, not to text me, phone only, I will not respond to texts, of course most approaches are by illiterate undecipherable textos which i simply ignore, its a good way to filter out the idiots.
All the houses I have looked at during my recent tour of warmer climes were listed on Facebook, the person who helped sell my LHD car is admin for and a member of several property groups.
I believe the key thing is to find selling groups for the sort of things you seek & then you will find serious listings, also the admins delete and ban any spammers & scammers.
I don't like Fessbook but I cannot deny its effectiveness for buying & selling.

I'm pleased you have managed to make it work favourably for you. I just can't seem to get my head around how to find things and exactly how it works. I managed to get an account using an email address that doesn't attract a load of spam and scammers. Posted some photos of an item to sell in a selling group local to my department but couldn't figure out how to get the ad to display in the selling area. Several attempts to request instructions how to interact with the groups has fallen on barren earth. Not a single response so far. About 12 months now. I have given up but keep trying out of boredom, and now that boot fairs have all but petered out I could do with the extra cash. Lebon coin sounds even more dodgy than Farcebook but some people swear by it.

I've bought and sold items on FB without problems. Answered questions put to me honestly, and asked questions about things I wanted to buy.

I never bother with selling groups, I just post things in the marketplace for sale. True, loads of junk and scams, but a decent way of selling and buying things nonetheless.

I bought my current vehicle from an ad on Marketplace and am delighted with it...and I sold my old one within hours of advertising it. OH posted an ad for scaffolding and it was sold at the full asking price and gone within the hour! Yes, there's a load of cr*p, but it's pretty easy to sus out if the seller looks genuine. I've seen those ads for the mystery boxes of Amazon stuff...well, I think if you're daft enough to go there, you deserve to be buried in earbuds!

How do you find the Facebook Marketplace? I only found groups like "Stuff for sale in Brittany". Which, being local to me makes more sense than hoping to find a buyer the other end of the country. I just can't seem to get any posts to come up anywhere. No instructions on how to do anything at all. I have been using ebay and Amazon for years without any confusion. In fact I actually managed to sell something on ebay (UK) years ago. LBC seems easy but I just don't trust it, and very few sellers respond to emails. Emails are the only way I can communicate because of having to translate everything. I have a tiller attachment for a compact tractor that might be up for sale and a million other bits and batches of bits I can't shift because the vide greniers have been cancelled.
