Does this help or worsen the situation cost wise for Holiday homes if there is a reduction in the figure on whichever tax it is, do we have to pay the full amaont, or do we pay the 'holiday' amount?
Anyone know when it might hit Mayenne?

I can see people will just chuck everything into recyclable regardless! Bonfires are now banned, but plumes of smoke are not around here?

Burning any is banned pretty much across the whole of France let alone burning more!
Please speak up anyone if it isn't banned in your commune.

The last time I asked for a permit to have a bonfire, before the end of May, it was given.
People here (depths of countryside) seem to have bonfires all year round.
I will ask our Maire if those metal containers you burn in are allowed.
For Crabtree, I signed the petition 😁. I think it calls for a Gilet Jaune campaign 🤣

Chip and Bin. The pay-as- you-go rubbish disposal scheme was implemented in our town. Bins were chipped and we were all given a chipped key. -Enormous expense. Consequences - to stop people using town rubbish bins to get rid of their rubbish the town waste bins were removed - result more litter in street. Some citizens decided they might as well fly tip so many local beauty spots were ruined by mounds of domestic waste. The scheme was abandoned after 3 years. Enormous cost and waste.

I can see people will just chuck everything into recyclable regardless! Bonfires are now banned, but plumes of smoke are not around here? Earlier in the summer I went to our local bins. I saw a guy get out of a Dutch registered car and put his black bin bag in the recyclables. I think I surprised him when I arrived, and he threw me a bit of a look. Knowing most Dutch speak English I said he should put his black bag into the proper bin. He said he tried but it would not open. He told me he was a visitor and did not have a card. So, I think your thoughts are a very likely scenario.

We've not long moved up from leaving black bags at the side of the road, to having a proper bin at the end of the road, so I think it'll be a while before we get any sort of chip and bin system. Mind you, our annual rubbish bill isn't cheap... When we came to live in France I assumed the rubbish bill was included in our tax fonciere. Then the dechetterie introduced cards...and when I asked for one, they said they had no record of us...and inside a few days we received a massive bill, including the 3 years we hadn't paid!

Seems like another charge that can be applied to the price of a gite stay.

Anyone know when it might hit Mayenne?
Holiday homes are usually hit the worst .. paying taxe d'habitation, taxe foncière and TEOM i.e. rubbish tax too .. in full too as far as I am aware.
