Time will tell, Steve. Word of mouth and the grapevine are enough for the moment. The average for posters / members v. lurkers is about 1 to 10 so there may be a lot of people who are lonely / isolated etc and really rely on the forum even if they don't actually post so it would be a shame to see them 'locked out'.

Presumably they could sign in if they rely on this sort of thing - they don't have to post...... ?

Does the thumbs up in the top right hand corner of the post box do anything? I've tried thanking several people but I don't see anything resulting from that. Perversely, early on I had notification emails saying I've been 'thanked' but haven't seen anything on a post either. Is there a way of being able to select foreign accents when drafting a reply?
Download Lexibar which provides a very small toolbar, on screen, with all the accented letters for the chosen language. Whilst typing an accented letter can be dragged & dropped or selected directly with left mouse click.

Is there an 'Active Topics' section somewhere, and if not could we have one please? That used to be my go-to section on TNFF, I could scroll down and look at any post that might interest me, at the moment I need look at all the sections, just in case. Thanks.

The nearest to that is 'recent threads' in the top menu I think, thats what i use most also

Would it be possible to have a section for finding a house/moving within France? Hope to be on the move soon and will be needing lots of advice. P.S. The smilies are very small. Hope I've picked the right one.

I just posted about an owl that visits us, but couldn't find a suitable folder/section to put it in.
Maybe a French wildlife section would be a good idea?
I'm sure others would have pictures and interesting info about France's wildlife that they'd like to share.
