Our Linky meter was installed at the beginning of July this year. At the end of last month we received an EDF notification that our Mensualité, normally 150 euros would be increased to 200 per month, no explanation was offered in the correspondence as to why. Spoke to them yesterday and they agreed the rise was excessive and could see no reason for it and would revert the payments to the original 150. One of our daughters, who lives in the UK, has a system in her very modern house that allows them to see exactly what amount of gas and electricity they use daily and what the cost is on an App on her iPhone. Being completely useless with IT I was wondering if there was a similar system here in France now Linky has gone nationwide.

One of the promises when Linky was presented around 2010 to the French public was: you only pay what you get, we know exactly how many kWh you're consuming. Away with Mr. Meterman, it's going to be long distance information from now on. In other words: away with those sometimes exagerated mensualités. Des promesses non tenues.

Yes, there are apps for mobile phone from a number of companies, including Enedis, the electricity supplier. It is also available on their website.

We got a refund of 80 Euros paid automatically into our back account as the amount we pay per month must be over what we actually use......we didnt have to do anything to instigate that, it was just automagical

The app “EDF et moi” is available from the apple store or google/android store. It gives a readout in euros or kWh but only for previous days not the current day.

Just thought I'd post an observation about Linky meters because there has been some concern about accuracy and whether it puts up costs. Ours has been installed a couple of years now and our annual consumption has remained the same. The cost differential between the last 2 years has been + 10 euros for the year. And I have cross checked that with the previous 10 years and our consumption remains consistent. We have a 4 bed house, usual white goods including large freezer, dishwasher, swimming pool pump, electric water heater and central heating pump. I cook a lot so the electric oven is on a lot, but my hob is gaz. Our annual cost is c 780 euros.

We have electric wall heaters and a wood-burning Insert as our main heat source, no central heating. Our annual bill hasn't changed much over the 5 years we have had our Linky .. increments in the unit charge by EDF are the likely cause of the small yearly increase. Annual bill usually just under 1100€.

That's a good annual bill given you have electric heating. I've often thought of changing to electric when our boiler finally gives up the ghost.
