Great Britain and Ireland are looking to make a joint bid to host the 2030 football World Cup. They probably have a good case but the hooliganism witnessed at the England v Italy Final a few days back probably hasn’t helped the cause. Should the WC be held in these two countries ?

It has been mooted for a while, since before Covid turned up.
It may be that the pecking order has changed after the weekend!

What about a bid from the Celtic nations of the British Isles. There's already enough stadiums but increased capacity at Liberty Stadium and Windsor Park would see a better distribution of venues. It would need a change in GAA rules though to allow soccer to be played at Croke and one other GAA stadium.
Edinburgh Murrayfield. Glasgow Probably Celtic Park Belfast Windsor Park Cardiff The Millennium Swansea Liberty Dublin Croke and Aviva plus one other in Ireland

Ally, you do not mention grounds in Cornwall or the Isle of Man.
I did think, though, that boris plastering No 10 with St Georges (what irony) cross flags was very telling.

On the face of it Windsor Park seems better suited. Alternatively a new multipurpose national stadium on the outskirts. IoM and Cornwall would be a problem logistically and neither has a suitable stadium nor the ability to sustain a new build of a practical capacity. The distribution above was based on population although slightly weighted to Ireland in order to balance the two islands. Others could argue that Scotland should have 3 and Ireland 2 based on population, oven ready (beurk) stadia and the highest per capita week on week football attendance in normal circumstances.

I would love to see GB and the Republic MINUS England get the 2030 WC. Maybe it would lance thé FA and government into doing something to stop rascism and hooliganism by a minority of troublemakers ? (Note I didn’t use the term ‘football fans’)
