Nobody needs to provide a valid reason for not having exchanged a UK license, its akin to an amputee asking people why they have not also had a leg removed.
And as for questioning the mindset...................

It doesn't, even if it did those would erase after 6 months if no more were collected in that time. Are you sure?
Did it come into force?

This is why I asked the original question. I have seen this a while back and wondered if the virtual licence was maybe virtually set up in a database somewhere after the first infraction, and then each time there was a new infraction it was added on, and at a certain time limit, or after so many virtual points, a chappie in blue was sent a nockin' saying it was time to change! Something must be happening, as with each speeding avis I get, there is no demand Or notification about deducting a point. Or, maybe for single points they just do not care and want the money instead. I have certainly had ten points, maybe more, in the last eight years - yes there have been gaps of six months or more depending on which car I am using, so maybe the virtual points are also retracting like real ones. I will let you know if I get the knock

Sure of the latter, very confident of the former but cannot say definitively, with a French permis de conduire you can check on line to see how many points are remaining, the system does not allow this for a non French permis holder, I asked a flic friend to see if any points were accrued to myself (as opposed to my license) and he said there was no way of doing so as they are not applied.

Something must be happening, as with each speeding avis I get, there is no demand Or notification about deducting a point.
There is, if you are given a roadside PV there is a box saying "perte de points" that they fill in, on the only one I have ever had he wrote "Oui".
As luck would have it I still have the avis de contravention for a speed camera this July, I camera that I am 100% aware of but I was distracted trying to understand the broken French of the Italians that I was taking for their covid jabs.
As you and I have never recieved said letter it is safe to say that no points have been withdrawn from a virtual license because there isn't one. If there were then we would have the same rights to know our balance of points as a French permis holder.
Finally on the back it says that if the words "le permis de conduire doit être échangé" is written on the front then you have to exchange your EU license for a French one at the Préfecture.
So Hal, you still have your get out of jail free card, - Profitez-en!!!!!

Thanks for the clarification - I confess to never having read the detail on the tickets - I just paid them quickly through the app they kindly provide for iphones, to make sure I get my 45€ discount! Odd as it is, I am awaiting the only ever ticket I have had from a hand-held radar and will look for the box..!

Received my ticket last week and paid my 90€ on the trusty iphone app and noticed this one was a two pointer. All previous tickets have been one point, so I maybe await the knock on the door.
However, more bizarre, I receive another ticket yesterday but no speed or points were mentioned. Reading through, it is for 11€ for administrative charges! Apparently if you are unable to show your licence when stopped, and despite taking it into the copshop the next day, there is a fine - 11€ or 45€ if late!
Moral of the story - always carry you driving licence..!

There's always one isn't there.
Tell me you've NEVER EVER broken a speed limit and I'll call you a liar!

Nonsense. People also say that flying is dangerous. It's not. Crashing into a mountain is.

Nonsense. People also say that flying is dangerous. It's not. Crashing into a mountain is. I suppose that you think that you are a better driver/pilot than you actually are. I said speeding is dangerous. Have you ever seen the aftermath or consequences of it. My comment should have been a "no brainer". It is obvious surely.

Speeding, or being over the speed limit, is all relative: what is in excess of the limit here in France and the UK is perfectly acceptable in Germany. If a certain speed was 'dangerous', there's not a country that would permit it, but it's perfectly possible to drive safely at 150 km/h or more, if the conditions allow it.
Go with what you said first, @grumpyish: speeding can be dangerous (my emphasis), not what you said subsequently - speeding is dangerous.
