I'm sorry, but to me Simone Biles' withdrawal after a poor landing smacked of a fit of pique; okay, she didn't do it how she wanted to, but she should have stayed to support the rest of her team. Let’s hope that neither yourself or anybody close to you ever suffers from mental health issues then,

You could also add Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce to any list of untouchables. She's been at the very top of sprinting since, oh, forever. Doubly hyphenated as well, so she must be someone of importance. Her is 2 others for you :
Jacqueline Joyner-Kersee
Florence Griffith Joyner
(edit)just saw the shelly-ann!!!!(/edit)

You forgot that little man long distance runner who failed to make it this year.. Forgot his name.. English guy.. Fraser-Pryce is Jamaican. Mo Farah is not, as far as I know, female.

Congrats to any Irish out there. 93 years... I had to look to see what "double sculls" was!!!
Is there another name for it?
A lot of nations are winning for the first time or for a very long time. Good to see.

I just heard on the news that Djokovic has lost in the semi final to the young German, Alexander Zverev. I don't know if it was on BBC - I didn't look today as I was so sick of their limited coverage. But I would have liked to have watched that match.

TV coverage in general is limited by the fact that Discovery channel bought the rights to most live broadcasts. Other channels don't get much of a look in.

BMX - great win for Charlotte Worthington. They're just showing the BMX on the day's highlights on France 2 so I saw her effort - 97.50 points, truly impressive.
She's the proud holder of the first ever gold medal for BMX in the Olympics.

The gold for the Italian in the 100m was good as well, along with the joint gold for the men's high jump.

GB team are in gold medal position in Eventing after dressage and cross country. It they can do well in the showjumping they'll win the team event. Oliver Townend is also in gold medal position in the individual competition.
My word, the cross country course was twisty and the jumps came thick and fast! It had the same 35+ jumping efforts but on a smaller area then we're used to watching (Badminton, Burleigh etc).

Just seen Tom Daley, in a pause between two dives, knitting to pass the time. And then they showed him displaying a little pouch he'd knitted for his gold medal.
