I assumed that the iris recognition system used at airports applied to the need for photos to be unbespectacled! I agree a CdS is more likely to be asked for when a person is wearing their glasses. I doubt anyone will ask Biggles for his CdS in the middle of the night when he's taken his glasses off. 1 -1 so far. Anyone else? Just a FWIW, but I haven’t seen iris recognition used in France in the context of CDS/passports or at passport control (I may have missed it) and I do know that it hasn’t been in use at UK airports after the short trial that was run about ten or more years ago was stopped. It was scrapped as I understand it because of the need for your iris to be scanned at close quarters meant HMG had to maintain offices, staff and scanners at some airports (I think I had mine done at LGW)..cost HMG money and for non frequent fliers it probably wasn’t worth the hassle of seeking out the office so the enrollment rate was low. The current generation of e-gates at the likes of Heathrow use facial recognition technology and compares the image of your entire face from the camera on the e-gate with your biometric data held on the passport chip.
