Other than making the person happy; I can see a lot of discrimination from clients - even refusal to be served by said workers

I'm not sure why there seems to be a need to proclaim one's inclination unbidden. If it were relevant to undertaking the occupation then I suppose people would need to know otherwise why is it relevant?

Oohh, why is life so flipping complicated nowadays ?
In the good old days of rock and roll a person was either heterosexual, gay or lesbian and good luck to them but now it’s beyond a joke.

Is it some kind of self-regarding narcissism that makes people want to confront everyone else with their sexuality? It actually strikes me as somewhat childish. "Ooh, look at me, I'm so different and whacky! Aren't I just the best."

"The more I see of the way things are going the happier I am to be living in the sticks in France, where things are pretty clear-cut and uncomplicated" I am not sure this is true.. Do you think these issues are not discussed or relevant in rural France? Our local building merchants had Nathan/Natalie working in the store. It always felt much safer to refer to them as 'they', although apparently in French use of the third person pronoun does not work so well in a nonbinary way, as 'they' is always either 'ils' or 'elles'. So in French you can use 'iel' or 'ille'. You can also use ol, al,ul or yul, but none of these terms have been approved by l'academie francaise. Things are in fact much more complicated in French and the issue is widely discussed and very important for many French people.

My opinions are just that, call it prejudice if you wish.

The OP contained a link to an article discussing the subject, it wasn't a statement of an opinion.
Among the definitions of "prejudice" is: Any preconceived opinion or feeling, whether positive or negative. ( Wiktionary)

I'm with Jackie - color me gone! Contrary to what you or Jackie may think, we're not misogynists and phobic, we simply feel that some things are worthy of discussion. If you don't like someone's approach to a discussion, make your own views known.

Like cartoon character ties in the 1990s.
It's like the joke about vegans, or people with perfect pitch. You don't need to work it out: they'll tell you.

Perhaps to air the subject, which is a good thing.
What are your thoughts? (We all know they'll be rum.)

1011% of the LGBQT population are non-binary while 89% are binary. Or is it the other way around? 1 in 10 of you will get that. The other half will struggle. Let's see now...LGBQT? I get the lettuce, bacon and tomato but what do the G and Q stand for? Greens and Quorn?

The pronoun idea is pretty pointless, as it is how the person is referred to by someone else when talking about that person. Far more useful, IF organisations such as Tesco and M&S feel the need to do something, is to have the badges showing HLGBTQ+ and the person concerned can circle the relevant symbol. On that theme..has anyone else come across the delicious French fonc/bank clerk/shop manager that prides themself on their impeccable English and refers to a male of the Brit species as 'Mister'. As in 'Mister's dossier is being dealt with' etc etc. They shudder when you gently explain that it should be 'Sir'
