Any Monsieur Tout le Monde can walk into Brico-Depot and buy 35kg bags of cement or concrete mix for €4.85 = £4.07 please tell me where you get cement for €4,85 a bag. I did, perhaps you missed it.

Perhaps related. I was warned that a 5 euro commission would be taken if I proceeded to withdraw €300 using a UK visa debit card. Same card and machine I've used regularly with only a percentage commission taken by the issuing bank. This has always been the norm with non EU debit cards.
BoA has partners around Europe that do not charge you - BNP in France & Italy and Duesche Bank in Spain.. Maybe your bank has the same??

The same thing happened to me today( for the first time).I used my UK MasterCard credit card at a ATM and got charged €5. Perhaps it is the bank making the charge - who knows.

And with a UK credit card used for drawing cash the card issuing bank will add charges whether in UK or EU - 'twas always so with my cards..
