For their links to the slave trade. How true the article is I'm not sure, but it makes for interesting reading.

The allegations of association with slavery have been grossly exaggerated and even wrong and some of the information in the article in just plain distorted. Pirates for example were not slavers and operated on almost every sea trade route. Just look at those who operated in the Indian ocean and beyond. For Bobo’s sake, even poor little Jane Austen got roped in because her father was trustee of an estate in the WI though he never went there nor had any hand in the running or management of the place. And the allegations made against Nelson… rubbish through and through. Simply because a piece of wood used in a chair came from a colony somewhere did not make it slavery related, for example. This example is taken from a very stupid notice next to a Hogarth work in the current Tate exhibition. This does not mean that there were not people like Picton, Hawkins, Drake who should be called out, though simply suppressing their memory is not the answer; educate, educate however is.
But let us also look carefully at the motives of those who are doing all the shouting!

I went college with a Welsh guy whose home address was Gwaun Newydd. He hated the fact that it wasn't in English. He told me it translated to New Street. In fact that wasn't the case. Anti native language feeling is quite common throughout the British Isles. I'll give Dordogne a couple of generations.

I would have to question the aims of the patriotic alternative before believing what they publish

They seem to take their inspiration from the American far right.

My apologies - I should have read the About page before posting the link. A bunch of bigotted scouts.

To return to the basic point; history and culture in Wales, Scotland and England is being unilaterally reviewed and modified by unaccountable and probably unqualified groups for their own interests and bugger anyone else. Is that acceptable? I ask the forum emigrant lobby their opinion.

There is something about what is written in the link that I don’t think rings true. What do we know about the ID of Bill Atheling ? www.goodreads.com/book/show/5025431-the-issue-at-handWhile we are on the subject of sensibilities, what the fec happened to Gropecrunt Lane?
