My thread seems to have dissapeared off the old forum, so will start new here......
I am assuming 2 and 8 day tests still need to be applied for, as well as a PCR test in France 72 hours before your scheduled trip back to the UK
You must use a company that supplies a relevant registration code for your Passenger Locator form, this is in the format of ABCDE1234567. If you do not get one of these in this format, you will have issues I think.
If anyone knows anything else re this extended quarantine, please do post, a lot of people may be affected in France by this news, we nearly extended our stay to avoid quarantine, thank goodness we didn't.

I recently travelled back from Greece under the pre July 19 UK rules.
You will need a PCR test before leaving France. To be accurate, not 72 hours, but actually in the 3 days before departure. This is on the UK government website.
Before completing the UK passenger locator form, you will need to book a day 2 and day 8 test. I used Randox, the confirmation email from them contains the booking reference to go on the PLF.
When you get to the UK, day 1 is the day after you arrive. You may only leave the house to post your test, go food shopping if home delivery is not available or a medical emergency.
The call centre will ring you every day.

That's going to be tricky to comply with if you are on one of the Western crossings for more than 8 hours

WoW that makes it really tricky, you need to wait for your result for that to work, I doubt any of the UK Antigen centres can achive that by sending the client away and saying you'll get the resuly by email in a few hours.
acr do you know if the clock stops on boarding a vessel, or do you still need to be within that 24 hours on arrival at France immigration? Like you say, an 8 hour trip makes that practically impossible

Where is the check done? If it is French passport control in England is it a problem?

I had my antigen test done on Sunday morning at East Midlands drive through, had the result in 20 mins by email and then I returned to collect a paper copy. I was on the 23.00 ferry at Portsmouth. When I presented my paperwork at Caen border control on Monday morning they asked for my double jab paperwork, when I said I hadn't had the vaccine they asked if I was resident (my card was in his hand) then said "oh yes your ok then!". The deadline is at check-in so the test needs to be 24 or 48hr before check-in.

Edit: Sorry triumphant my post crossed with yours!

They deffo examined my antigen test in great detail leaving The U.K. at Portsmouth checkin, I really can’t remember if they wanted to see it on arrival in France, it’s better news for non vaxxed people if it is at U.K. triumphant says it’s checkin at U.K. so sounds better news…..

It appears from July 18th, if you are fully vaccinated you will not need a PCR or antigen test to enter France from the UK.
These things seem to be changing daily.

I'm in awe of people that can figure all this stuff out and keep track of the changes. I can read the posts and links several times and I still haven't a clue. For whatever reason it seems like they are actively trying to stop or at least severely slow down international travel and using Covid as an excuse. Thankfully I have no intention of travelling anywhere out of my department, and UK (aka Plague Island) might as well be located on Neptune as far as I'm concerned.
