Question What happens if a visitor from the UK tests positive just before their return journey? I realise that any answer has a shelf life of about twenty minutes but what is the current situation?

Last time I looked…(about three days ago)..the info was buried on UK gov website somewhere (wish I’d kept a copy of the link)…to paraphrase and from memory. 1. You need a negative test result before traveling to UK …something like a £500 fine if you arrive without one. 2. If you test positive overseas you follow local rules and Regs. Just unearthed those links again.. Here’s one…“Follow these steps: Take a COVID-19 test in the country you’re in. (To board your transport to England, you need proof of a negative result from a test taken in the 3 days before the service departs.)” This is probably more comprehensive and was amended 19 July.
Amongst other things mentions the £500 fine, and that if you do test positive the requirement not to travel to the UK and to obey local regulations.
