I joined Facebook many years ago and then left. It seems that the memory lingers on.... I tried to join again and was faced with an identification problem as i was already known; The option was to contact past friends for them to confirme I was me! The three that were listed consisted of two who were dead and one with whom I am no longer in contact. When clicking on to other options it comes back to that each time. The option to leave a comment (which I did) is preceded by a comment that they will not receive a reply. Any thoughts?

Or if you must join the scrum do it with a fresh (bogus) identity and a throwaway email address. There will be no record of it for them to refer back to.

Curtis.
You speak of joining again, I am guessing using the same E-mail address so that it is seeing you as creating a dual identity, can you not login to your existing one using the lost password procedure if necessary?
I have a similar related question, I created a Fessbook account using the hotel name and location for the first and second names, it has never been used other than to read information from the running club etc, no comments posted, no photographs, no friends. In my new phase of life in another region I will be using it joining local groups etc so want to change the identity to my correct name, can this be done or will I have to create a new account using a different E-mail address?

Maybe just forget about Facebook (now Meta) and enjoy life is my only thought on it…… I only want it to have access to certaiin car related items where there is only a FB page. No intention of "talking" to anyone or sharing etc.

No intention of "talking" to anyone or sharing etc. Nearly all my car/motorcycle connections, news and information comes from FB groups. Those and medieval architecture take up about 90% of the content I see. In annoys me when people who don’t use the platform are the most vocal when it’s mentioned.

Do it with a new email address, if it recognises your old one. You can still have an account in your real name.

Used a different e mail address and another name and all sorted. Now to see if it was worth it. At least no one will recognize me and want to be my friend !
